1. I'm still you're friend and I still care

Three times Peter denied him
Three times Peter fell asleep
Three time Jesus asked the question. do you Love me? Every commentary I read gave special significance to the three denials and the three questions from Jesus.
But the only question he has for Simon was do you still love me? No whys…No how could you…No how can I ever trust you again....No condemnation, No bitterness, No hurt feelings, just a simple answer to a really simple question “Do you still love me?”
As Peter ponders the same question three times, each time he was asked did he think about another night standing by a charcoal fire - A fire imbedded in his memory i’m sure forever where 3 separate times he denied knowing Jesus. A denial made with jesus standing so close by that he could actually look his way.
You Know all things - Peter finally gets it , I believe, Jesus new his heart but Peter also needed to be reminded that Jesus knows his heart and knows our hearts as well.
do you love me more than these - Biblical scholars who know a lot more than I know have not decided what the these are in Jesus question, It could be the fish and fishing or it could have been the disciples. Maybe we aren’t suppose to know, maybe we should be reflecting on is there anything that we can bring to mind that we love more and are willing to abandon our mission in life for than serving Jesus.

Feed my sheep. You still have potential to impact those around you. Gods Plan for your life isn’t done.

Follow me. His call on your life isn’t finished until he says it’s done. Other may count you out, some may give up, some may even promise things and never deliver. However, his promises are unbreakable, unshakable and his love is unrelenting.

Follow me - don’t look at what others are doing or saying. Focus on the mission/ministry that God has given to you and only you.

This morning would be a great time for you to to accept the great commission and recommit to loving your life on mission. No matter what you have done, no matter what your witness has looked like in the past. He still sees potential in you, he still wants to send you and foremost in his mind he still wants to spend time with you.
Illustration of Restoring the Fire (As Jesus Was Doing with Peter) - A pastor decided to visit a member who had stopped attending services. It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor's visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a big chair near the fireplace and waited. The pastor made himself comfortable but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the play of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone. Then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched all this in quiet fascination. As the one lone ember's flame diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and "dead as a doornail." Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. Just before the pastor was ready to leave, he picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it. As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said, "Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday." - Jesus is ready to rekindle Peters ember!
