1 John 3:11–18 NIV84
11 This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
Matthew 5:13-20
Matthew 5:13–20 NIV
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

1. Christian should do more than speak

Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven” ()

Do not be afraid to shine the light on your actions
If you feel you need to hide, it is probably because something is wrong
The power of our words can increase with actions that support what we speak

2. Our actions speak of our faith

Actions speak of your faith

We do what we believe
We do what we like
We do what we think about

3. Christians must be aware of their actions

Cain belonged to the evil one
Cain’s actions revealed whom he served
Our motives and actions must be pure
If our motives are good, the action will be also

4. Actions speak louder than words

Jesus said
Matthew 15:8 NIV84
8 “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
We must put our heart into our words
Don’t just speak a good game, do it
Faith is more than knowledge
Faith is more than just believing

5. Faith is love in Action

1 Timothy 5:8 NIV84
8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Jesus loves with action
We must love with action
We must be helpful
We must be especially helpful to our family
Our love must be shown not just spoken
