You Belong Here - Part 3

Luke 15:1–2 NLT
1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!
Prayer
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith! In Jesus Name!
Last week we looked at How A Person Gets Lost in the world
Luke 15:4 NLT
4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?
Lost : to perish, to destroy, to lose, to lose eternal life, to be spiritually destitute, to be cut off.
Today the parable speak about the lost in our homes and the responsibility we have to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those in our homes and extended homes
Luke 15:8–10 NLT
8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”
The lost coin represents the family member who is an unbeliever!
that family member who doesn’t understand Jesus, doesn’t want to go to church, doesn’t think God is real, has had a bad experience with church people, is angry at God, but they live with you!,
The family member who is spiritual, but doesn’t accept Jesus as Lord and Savior! The family member who has walked away from God and walked to a lifestyle not pleasing to God!
That’s The Coin
That coin - that person
has extreme value,
is loved dearly
was lost and thought to be lost forever if not found

The precious coin was lost because of someone!

This reminds me of The responsibility family members have for one another. A coin (person) within the home is lost in one of four ways.
1. Ignoring the person. We set people to the side and forget about them. We give little or any thought about what that person may be going through! Sometimes we are so busy, we forget the value of that person and because of priorities in our life we just ignore that person!
2. Neglecting the Person. We know a person is there and know the person has value, but we still neglect them. He can just fail to pay attention to the loved one for so long we forget where they are emotionally, spiritually, mentally!
3. Carelessly handling the Person. When we misuse, abuse or forsake an individual - we lose them! That’s the equivalent of handling money badly or dropping money and not aware or always losing money!
4. Unconsciously misplacing that person .
Misplacing or giving little attention and assuming he or she will take care of themselves! Not intentional planning time with that person, checking in on the person letting tat person know how much they are loved is the equivalent of just misplacing the coin - Eventually that person or coin is forgotten!
For the person who has been ignored, neglected, carelessly handled or misplaced - God is here to tell you You Belong Here!
They Belong Here with Jesus
John 21:15 NLT
15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.
Kids, Young people, Young Adults need to know about the Good News! They belong To God and they have a right to know who their heavenly father is
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 The Message
6 Point your kids in the right direction— when they’re old they won’t be lost.
We must find those that are lost in our own homes and let them know “You belong here”
If you can get yourself to church online or in person make sure you explain the importance to everyone in your household that they Belong Here , because God loves them
Luke 15:8 NAB
8 “Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?
The coin, although lost in the house, was lost in the dust and dirt of the floor.
Possible the mess that goes on inside a house!
Some how the dust and dirt from the mess or drama in the house or family covered that coin!
It was not clean like the other nine coins sitting on the dresser. The dust and dirt was slowly covering and tarnishing it in its filth.
Hear me now
The coin that is described in the text or is the person’s experience, although in the house, it was terrible.
Being lost you can feel useless:
Being Lost makes you feel you are unable to contribute to the family or society
Being lost you feel helpless:
Being lost you unable to fulfill purpose in life
Being lost you feel not seen,
Being Lost you feel not cared for.
Being lost you stepped on and walked on:
Being lost you begin to misuse yourself , others than begin to misuse you and you can end up involved in destructive activities
Just like the coin down upon the floor covered with dust and dirt, it was not seen; therefore, it was misused and abused.
So there are consequences when we have lost members in the family and or extended family
When you are lost you have no identity - so you allow the world to tell you who they are, how you should act, how you should think, and what they you should do!
Genesis 1:27 NKJV
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
The person is not aware they are lost
Lamentations 2:19 NLT
19 Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer, pleading for your children, for in every street they are faint with hunger.
Luke 15:9 NKJV
9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’
1. The woman changed the whole atmosphere of the house.
She lit a candle, for the houses of that day were very dark. Her only hope of finding the coin was to secure light.
The light represents Jesus Christ, the Light of the World The woman turned to Jesus to bring light to her dark house.
She used the light in her search, looking behind every door, under every table, in every drawer, and everywhere else.
She went nowhere without the Light. The light also represents her trust in the righteousness of God
She swept throughout the house.
She swept all the loose and clinging dirt and filth out of her house - sin in the house).
She knew two things.
a. As long as there was loose dirt and filth in the house (sin), she might never find her precious coin.
b. If she did not clean out all the loose dirt and filth (sin), she might lose another coin.
Luke 19:10 NKJV
10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
John 12:47 NLT
47 I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it.
Luke 15:9 The Message
9 And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’
Luke 15:10 The Message
10 Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one lost soul turns to God.”
Acts 2:38 NLT
38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 55:7 NLT
7 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
Worth
You thought I was worth saving So you came and changed my life
You thought I was worth keeping So you cleaned me up inside
You thought I was to die for So you sacrificed your life
So I could be free So I could be whole So I could tell everyone I know
We Must Keep Looking For The Lost
Because They Belong Here!
