Prepare to Live
Sometimes being a part of a community that keeps Torah or studies scriptures we encounter a great deal of focus on prophecies.
As we study these prophecies one gets the sense that they need to prepare to endure or weather them.
If we are not careful though can forget to prepare for a very important day, tomorrow.
Arguably tomorrow is the most important day of our lives and we it arrives the day after that is the most important day of our lives.
I want us to look at a way of thinking about preperation.
Admittedly it is not preperation for some future prophetic event, yet in some ways it maybe even more important than those days.
Understand though that the intention is not to miss out on the present.
Indeed especially on Shabbat we should be in the here and now.
The process of prepareing for tomorrow helps us to recognize where we are and where we have been.
As we discuss this today I hope you will be able to understand this.
It may seem like an obvious and trivial idea to prepare for tomorrow but is something that we should be doing.
Let us begin with looking at what we mean prepare.
