Praise the LORD

VERSE 1
Singing praises is good
Singing praise is pleasant
Praise is beautiful
VERSE 2 His care for us
He is worthy of praise because He builds up Jerusalem
He is worthy of praise because he brought the outcasts of Israel home
VERSE 3 His care for us
He is worthy of praise because he heals the brokenhearted
He is worthy of praise because he binds up their wounds
VERSE 4 His wisdom in nature
He is worthy of praise because He knows the number of the stars
He is worthy of praise because He knows the name of each star
He either gives them their name or call them to take up their position as part of the whole
Isaiah 40:26–27 NKJV
Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”?
His wisdom and power here reveal is capability in verse 3
VERSE 5 His power
He is worthy of praise because He is great and powerful
He is worthy of praise because His wisdom is infinite
VERSE 6 His justice
He is worthy of praise because He lifts up the humble
He is worthy of praise because He puts down the wicked
The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground. He reverses the evil order of things. The meek are down, and he lifts them up; the wicked are exalted, anti he hurls them down to the dust. The Lord loves those who are reverent to himself, humble in their own eyes, and gentle to their fellow men: these he lifts up to hope, to peace, to power, to eternal honour. When God lifts a man, it is a lift indeed. —Charles Spurgeon

Sing to the LORD

Sing with grateful hearts
Play instruments to praise Him
VERSE 8 His control over nature
Sing praises for the clouds and rain
Sing praises for the vegetation the rain causes to grow
VERSE 9 His feeding of the animals and birds
Sing praises because He provides food for the beast
Sing praises because He provides food for the young ravens
VERSES 10-11 His pleasure
Luke 16:15 NKJV
And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
He does not delight in the horse’s strength
He does not delight in the legs of man (the athlete)
He takes delight in those who fear Him (spiritual qualities)
He takes delight in those who hope in His mercy

Praise the LORD

VERSE 12 The call for Jerusalem to praise the LORD God
VERSE 13
He is worthy of praise because He makes their gates strong their form of protection
He is worthy of praise because the strong gates keep the children safe inside
VERSE 14
He is worthy of praise because He helps them dwell in peace
He is worthy of praise because He provides the best wheat to eat
VERSE 15 His word controls the earth
He is worthy of praise because His command travel throughout the earth
He is worthy of praise because words move without delay
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:
VERSEs 16-18 His word controls the weather
He is worthy of praise because the snow covers the land like snow
He is worthy of praise because sends frost like ashes
He is worthy of praise because He sends hail like fragments of food
He is worthy of praise because He sends the unbearable cold
He is worthy of praise because He warms all these elements and they melt
He is worthy of praise because He causes the wind to blow and waters to flow
