Be Diligent To Be Found By Him In Peace! We must be at peace with God & others! OPENING SCRIPTURE: 2 Pet 3:10-14. By definition, Diligence is careful and persistent work or effort. This is a highly prized virtue in Scripture: Deu 4:9 “Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.” Pro 13:4 “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” 2 Tim 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (NASB). Heb 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV). Speaking about the imminent end and judgment of all things, Peter wants us to understand the important role Diligence plays in preparing us for both. We should be diligent to be found by God….. I) At Peace With Him! A) When Henry David Thoreau, (Pronounced like, "Thorough") the naturalist, was close to death, he was visited by a very pious aunt who asked, “Henry, have you made your peace with God?” “I didn’t know,” was Thoreau’s answer, “that we had ever quarreled.” 1) Rom 3:23; Eze 13:1-5, 10. 2) World peace is desirable, but the most important form of peace is peace with God (Rom 5:1). 3) Are you truly at peace with God? (Jas 4:1-10). II) At Peace With Our Conscience A) Some are at peace in a sinful way (1 Tim 4:1-2; Titus 1:15). B) Purified through Christ: Heb 10:14-23. C) Our hearts must first be pierced (Acts 2:32-47). III) At Peace With Others A) Rom 12:9-21. B) Mat 6:9-12, 14-15.
