Who do you pick?

Have you ever picked teams before?
If you have, who do you pick? The best or the worst?
Jesus had some choosing to do as well
He needed to pick people who would be great, did he go to the palace for the best? Did he go to the best universities for the smartest? Did he go to the best businesses for the wealthiest?
No, he went to the side of a lake and picked some fisherman
But these fisherman would change the world
Jesus invites us all to follow Him ,
Jesus invites us from where we are
Jesus saw them where they were - workers, nothing special
No matter your job or family, Jesus invites you to follow him
Jesus invites us to actively follow Him
Being a Christian is not a passive life
Jesus has a job for us to do: first is to follow Him - do what He says to do
Jesus invites us to change our identity
These guys caught fish
Jesus changes them to catching men
What does that mean?
Our job as a Christian is to tell people about Jesus
Jesus changes our identity
Before we trust in Christ, we are God’s enemies; but then we become His children
We go from being sinners to being righteous
Following Jesus means abandoning everything ,
These four left everything they owned and knew
The Christian life costs us, sometimes greatly
These men left their businesses, but they would lose their lives too
Simon and Andrew were crucified
James was killed by the sword
John was exiled to Patmos
We are told to take up our crosses and follow Christ

Are you following Christ?
