Mary Magdalene’s Walk with Jesus

Opening Question/Thoughts: Mary Magdalene had the physical presence of Jesus for 2 years before He died. After His ascension, she had the Holy Spirit. What do you think she would say to ladies today about His physical and spiritual presence versus His spiritual presence?
Luke 8:1–3 ESV
Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
Luke 8:1-3

Consider Mary in the Physical Presence of Jesus

What are some of the attributes of Mary’s Walk with Jesus (physical presence)
Intimate Fellowship with Jesus
Aware of the reality of Jesus Christ
Saved, healed, delivered
He counseled her, led her
She experienced joy not judgment

Consider Mary in the Spiritual Presence of Jesus

John 20:11–18 ESV
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.
Same experience as physical presence
He was still present with her
She still talked with Him and followed Him
She experienced Him and saw greater things He had done

Conclusion: What would Mary say to women today of Jesus’s physical and spiritual presence?

Live by truth in Jesus Christ because there’s never a time where He is not present
Jesus’s presence has not changed
Don’t lose His sense of presence in your life
His Spirit is not visible to see physically but His presence is still “present,” real, felt, and experienced in our lives
Continue to have intimate and sweet fellowship with Him
