Intro
For the Christian, praying should be like breathing.
Just as breathing is the response of physical life to the presence of air, so prayer should be the response of spiritual life to the presence of God.
Prayer is the place where our will meets God’s will and hopefully aligns.
It has been said “To pray is to change.
Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us.”
We would do well to understand that if we are unwilling to change we will abandon prayer and miss out on who God would have us to be.
“To pray is to change.
Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us.”
~Richard J. Foster
Giants of The Faith
David makes it a priority to seek God.
Moses succeeds in “changing” the mind of God through prayer.
Jesus doesn’t pray “If it be your will prayers” in certain instances.
Especially when praying for others.
The same goes for the apostles.
Be confident in prayers for others.
But when there is a question as to where to go look again to Jesus.
I’m Not A Giant
You may say to yourself “I am not David, Moses, or Jesus!”.
That is true, but I want you to understand that as you grow into being what God wants you to be, as you align your thoughts with his, and your will with his HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU.
An Olympian does not become an Olympian over night.
They must train daily.
Prayer is like training to be an Olympian.
It must be intentional, with effort, and with much consistency!
You too can be a Giant of Faith!
Conclusion
Prayer is much like a check to be countersigned by two parties.
I sign the check and send it up to heaven.
If Jesus Christ also signs it, it does not matter how large it is—it will be honored.
