Privilege to see my wife change
It’s like being married to a different woman daily
You know how long I’ve watched?
11 years, TODAY!
Think about where you were 11 years ago?
If you’re a sophomore, you were probably 4!
sgs 1:8-10
Song of Solomon 1:8 ESV
8 If you do not know, O most beautiful among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.
Song of Solomon 1:8–11 ESV
8 If you do not know, O most beautiful among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents. 9 I compare you, my love, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariots. 10 Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels. 11 We will make for you ornaments of gold, studded with silver.

Solomon now responds:
song of solomon 1:9-11
Solomon now responds:
He says you know the way, just follow the flocks...
What is a king doing with flocks?
My guess is that they are recounting the day they first met
He compares her to a horse?
What if I told Tash she looks like a horse?
Not a good idea… You know what I call her though?
She calls me tiger, but I feel stupid when she calls me that
She made me pick a name, so I call her lizard!
You can call her that too...
Why a mare among pharaoh’s chariots?
EXPLAIN: She stands out!
Then he just tells her what she wants to hear
She is BEAUTIFUL!
Honey, you look amazing, you wanna ride my big green tractor?
Song of Solomon 1:11 ESV
11 We will make for you ornaments of gold, studded with silver.
Song of Solomon 1:11 ESV
11 We will make for you ornaments of gold, studded with silver.
Notice the gray...
Randomly the daughters of Jerusalem are like, we’ll help!
Remember, they love him — they also love her and want to help
Remember, she hasn’t kept her own vineyard
They’re like, Girl let’s go get a pedicure
We gotta get you ready for the ball!
Ok, get ready for this one...
Song of Solomon 1:12–14 ESV
12 While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance. 13 My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh that lies between my breasts. 14 My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Engedi.
A spikenard (or nard) is an essential oil used for perfume
Where have we heard of myrrh before?
Gold, frankincense and myrrh was an annointing oil
Carries a long-lasting scent
Ever smelled the cologne or perfume of your crush on your shirt?
That’s what she’s saying...
For centuries, scholars struggle with this sexual imagery
Song of Solomon 1:15 ESV
15 Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are doves.
His response is pretty generic… uh, you’re beautiful?
Even then guys struggled to say the right thing...
Notice the eyes… is there a more telling opening into the soul?
Tasha has brown eyes (many think it’s boring)
But they struck me, even at 13...
I drew her eyes and she kept it for years
Trashed it a year before we reconnected
Song of Solomon 1:16–17 ESV
16 Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, truly delightful. Our couch is green; 17 the beams of our house are cedar; our rafters are pine.
sos 1:
She responds, no no! You are handsome!
Now we can see they are married (they share a couch/bed)
CLOSING:
Story of Bree and whatever his name was...
She was crying because he said things to her
I had a conversation, explained that I DEMAND respect for her
He has ZERO right to date her
Guys, you have ZERO rights to your girl too...
Until you are married or pregnant, you are not obligated to stay
But she is not obligated to you and is free to go
If you’re dating my daughter, you have a set of rules to follow
Disrespect is absolutely off limits!
You’d better open her car door, pay for her meal and wear a vest
Anyway, Bree cried again and I looked at the conversation
You’re an effing B you s-l-u-t
Yep, you’re done. BYE Felisha!
But then he called me and asked for another chance
I said nope. Had to earn my trust by staying away
He didn’t. I started checking Bree’s texts
I emailed them both, and Bree lost her phone
They never spoke again (she never knew about the text monitoring)
Guys, the girl you want is a queen
You walk her to her door
You refrain from pushing her boundaries
You’d better be nice to her dad and honor his wishes
Girls, you’d better act like a queen
And remember, your guy is your king
(not the king of kings, but your king)
He deserves repsect
Don’t provoke to jealously
Don’t try to control the king!
And remember, you’re dad ain’t afraid to kill the king...
