Intro

Exp

When it comes to ministry, there is one thing above all others that Christ did and that we must do.

The Beginning of His Ministry.

Call to Repentance (, Mk 1:15)

Matthew 4:17 ESV
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Luke 4:18–19 ESV
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Luke’s passage when Jesus begin his ministry might not say the same, but it goes one step further. - describes what it means.
Lk 4
Repent - do not live your life surrounded in the bad new there is nothing but good news all around
You are not helpless, you are not poor but you are rich in Christ.
There is nothing physical or spiritual that can keep you captive.. Repent, Be free.
Repent.. Do not stumble around in the darkness. Christ gives you sight. He gives you vision and the ability to avoid the pitfalls that are so hidden in this dark world in which we live.
Repent, throw off those thing that slow you down. That which keep you from walking in the darkness is a trick. Stand up straight and walk right.
Repent, God is your ruler and king — all your debts are cancelled and you a free to be in right relationship with the creator of everything.

Fish for Men (, , Lk 5:1-11)

Matthew 4:19 ESV
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew
Luke may not say it verbatim but it illustrates what it means.
Let him into your world
Allow him to teach from your life
When he says move, move
Invite others to join you in the bringing them in.

The Ending of His Ministry

Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Mt 28:
Mark 16:15–16 ESV
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Mk
Luke 24:46–48 ESV
and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:46
John 21:17–19 ESV
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”
Jn 21:17-19

HOW? ABC

A Technique

Admit
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Ro 6:
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Believe
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Commit
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:13 ESV
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Conclusion

What we’ve talked about tonight was about how important it was to Christ to get people to repent and turn to HIm. It’s more important than food and clothing and shelter. It’s more improtant than happiness. it’s more imprtant than anything. It is why he lived, It is why He died, It is why he rose from the dead.
I gave you the easiest of all learned examples. Memorize it. Give it out.
Here’s the real best way. Be His disciple. Watch this...
Matthew 10:18–20 ESV
and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
THe technique is just a tool. But let me tell you in every real experience I’ve had leading a person to Christ, I left it amazed at the words that came out of my mouth. When you are in the thick of it God brings thing to mind that you know you would not have thought of on your own. TO get there, you must go. You must submit to Christ. And you must be His disciple.
