* In his poem /The Road Not Taken/, Rober Frost writes, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."
* We are all faced with choices: what do we wear, what do we eat, and the list goes on.
* Most choices we make are pretty insignificant
* But other choices make all the difference, Frost tells us.
* There is one choice in life you have to make that makes the only difference.
And that's what I want to talk to you about today.
* Every person here, and every person for that matter, needs to make the right choice that leads to eternal life.
* Today you may stand at two roads diverging in the woods, which one will you take.
* Before you make the wrong choice I want to expose to you the characteristics of this choice.
!
This Choice is Guaranteed
!! We will all have to make a choice in life
!!! Majority will choose wrong
* It's our nature
* It's the "easy" road
* It's what our family has born into us.
Exodus 34:7
!!! Minority will choose right
* It's not our nature
* It takes stepping out of your comfort zone
* It may take you establishing a new tradition in your family.
Psalm 112:2 "The generation of the upright will be blessed."
!! Could you be the one to start the right choice for your family?
!
This Choice Takes Work
!! The "ones finding it"
* present active participle - ones who were looking then were finding, the ones looking now are finding, but it takes you looking.
* examples of Damascus Road are few.
* Most people are at a place in their lives where they are compelled to start looking.
* Could be the pressure of friends or family
* Could be your own inner turmoil, but something will send you looking, and that's when you will find it.
!! If you are not looking you will default to the wide gate.
!! Have you stopped looking?
Have you just started looking?
Are you even worried about looking?
You should be, because of the third characteristic of this choice.
!
This Choice is A Matter of Time
!! The characteristic of all choices is they are a matter of time.
* What clothes to wear today - i'd still be standing staring in my closet.
* What path to drive to work or school - if not I would just be driving in circles.
* You can't choose to not choose - time will get past you
!! The most important choice you can make is also a matter of time
* Luke 13:24-25.
Once the door is shut, there is no getting in.
* You are not guaranteed your tomorrow.
You're not guaranteed your next breathe.
It may be that you have only today to make this choice.
!! Will you make the right choice - the choice to follow Jesus - the choice to enter the narrow gate - the choice that leads to eternal life?
