Introduction
Please open your bibles with me to James Chapter 3 we will be looking at verses 13-18 As we continue our Journey through James
The title of todays message is Wisdom and Your Worldview
Everyone has a world view
It is how you see the world
It’s your philosophy of life
Your prospective on life
And how you live defines your point of view
As we know James key thesis os living out your faith
James tells us over and over again that faith without works is dead
With our works we demonstrate the genuineness of our faith
The same thing can be said about our world view
Real wisdom comes from God and should flow out into our life
As believers we should be looking at the world though God’s eyes and not those of the world
The word believe literally if traced back to mean how we live
So in other words how we believe is manifested by how we live
And so James is going to compare two forms of wisdom here
God’s point of view
And the World’s
If you a believer you should have a biblical worldview
Our prospective should come from God
Look at verses 13-18
Wisdom is a big topic in the Bible
The word wisdom is found all throughout scripture
So we first need to define wisdom form a biblical standpoint
Wisdom is seeing things from God’s prospective and making decisions based on that understanding
Wisdom is about making right choices
Real wisdom is the ability to integrate and show what you know by how you live
That is Why James starts this conversation by asking
Does anyone say that they are wise?
Then show is by your god conduct
Because it in the end is is our conduct that tells others what we believe
Godly living displays Godly Faith
The Worth of Wisdom (vs 13)
He begins again by asking does who here thinks they are wise
Not everyone is wise
Everyone may have an opinion
Or an argument
But not everyone is wise
Wisdom is therefore of great worth and value
As Christians we have to make an effort to seek the wisdom from God
If You want to be blessed in every walk of your life , then you better discover the value of Godly wisdom in your life!
And James says that you will show that you are wise by the way that you live
You are going to prove your wisdom by smart skillful living
To be wise is to act wisely
To be wise is to learn and live the Word do God
The wisdom of God
Church we have to understand thought that Knowledge and Wisdom are not the sane
Knowledge is good And is important to have
But wisdom is far greater
Because wisdom is the practice application of knowledge
Knowledge is all around us these days
You can google almost anything
Mike Huckabee says it best
You can google knowledge but wisdom comes from above
Knowledge is learned, wisdom is given
Wisdom comes from God
Therefore we are to pursue wisdom
James tells us that we are to pray for wisdom
Knowledge gives us the ability to take things apart, wisdom gives us the ability to put it back together
Any body can take stuff apart
When I worked as a mechanic we would always get in cars that someone had tried to fix on their own but they soon realized that once they got it apart they could not put is back together
They same is true with out life we thing we can do it ourselves but what we really end up with is a mess that only God can put back together
And trust me some of us need to take the box of parts we have strung out all over the place to God so He can put our life back together
It takes the wisdom of God to put things back together
And wisdom is needed to day
· In our homes
· On our marriages
· In our church’s
· In our leaders
· In our country
· In our nation
· And the list goes on and on
Wisdom is not gained by education
Education is important
Education can be bought
But wisdom is far more important
Wisdom does not come form just growing old
We have all heard people say the older I get the wiser I am
Listen just getting old does not make one wise
Experience does not make you wise
What makes us wise is God’s Words
God’s words teaches us God’s Ways
And it is by living by God’s Standard that one can truly say they are wise
That is what James is saying
If you want peace and happiness thing seek God’s Wisdom
I would challenge you to read a chapter of proverbs every single say
I think that is why God broke it up into 30 chapters so that we would have one a day
He made 31 days for those that are hard headed so that we could go back and reread one
Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes how he chased everything
· Possessions
· Power
· Position
· Wine
· Women
· Food
· Beautiful palaces
And he concluded that all of this was vanity of vanities
In other words he tried everything that the world counts as wisdom and he said that it is all empty
When Solomon became the king God came to Him and said Solomon ask me anything
