5000 men

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the feeding of the 5000

we have been looking at the different people in the story and their part that they played in the most wonderful miracle.

We have seen through each of the chariactors differing kinds of Christians in the church today.

and now today we are looking at the 5000 men.

You might ay that theres not much to say about the people other than they were there and hungry.

Buts lets look and see what we can see as we look closely

we see five different sentences that give us a full picture of the multitude.

People haven’t changed over the last 2000 years or so

someone who is different and who meet the needs of people, people will follow them.

Today we see people who become overnight sensations because of something out of the norm that they do

singers footballers youtube stars all have they many followers today this is not something new.

Jesus was someone out of the norm

In a world were medicine and doctors where more luck than skill.

Us today can not really comprehend what a difference Jesus could be in a world like this.

Here were ill and we pick up the phone and call to see a doctor and we trust him to make us well with his medical skill that he has learned.

Jesus didn’t go to collage for 7 years to know all about the human body and what medicine would be needed to cure the diseases that a person might show symptoms of.

Jesus knowing the body intimately because he with the holy spirit created it knew just by looking at an individual what they needed to make that individual well.

But unlike the apothecary Jesus didn’t give a potion he would just touch that individual or speak the word and the miracle was complete.

Would you not follow a man like this if you were ill.

There was no bill to pay just the touch or that word would do the trick.

These people were looking for the miracles these people were not following because of the message they wanted something for nothing.

There will always be people seeking the the thrill or rush that comes from seeing someone healed.

Friends there is nothing wrong with asking God to heal us and he can but lets not our life just evolve around the spectacular.

As a minister i want to see God heal and do miracles in our misted but i know that we also need the teaching to keep us on the right track.

We need sound biblical teaching so were are able to enjoy all that God has to offer.

Those boards i brought say that Jesus is the word and dwells amongst us They also say that he is the saviour Healer, baptiser and coming king.

So the first thing to not that there were people that followed just because they wanted to see the miracles.

Here we see the second verse that refers to them.

in the first verse we saw that they followed him here we see that they had come to him

This would indicate that they were closer than the verse 2.

many times in scripture we see people following afar off

Peter we read in

There was a reason that people follow afar off

They don’t want to be associated with the person

there is a fear of what might happen if they get to close to the individual in this case Jesus

Peters reason.

But these 5000 men had confidence in numbers they were happy to come close

They didn’t mind who knew they were with others so they felt comfortable.

John 3 talks about a person who was not so happy to be associated with Jesus so he came at night.

Nicodemus.

Yes these men might have set out to see the miracles but the were happy to come close to the master.

In coming close to the master maybe i might get something

Im not ill but he might bless me in another way

These men were comfortable to come to the master and experience for themselves what he could do for them.

These men were curious and willing to come close to the master.

We have said in an earlier message that Jesus had realise that they needed food and when he said to the disciples make the men to sit down to the people who were there

they realise that there was something on the way.

To every man in that 5000 there was an indication that they were going to be fed.

But how on the mountain side

Was they going to be a big bar b que or had Jesus enlisted a local catering company to come and feed this crowd with a lunch buffet.

They were expecting, but not expecting Jesus to use one of them to start off the miracle.

They were hungry but didn’t know how they would be fed.

People out there are hungry but don’t know where to go to be fed.

There is a longing inside which they don’t know how to fill it.

Jesus know just what the people needed than and what people need today but if we don’t tell people to sit down how on earth are they going to be fed.

Jesus who is the bread of life was and is able to feed the multitude.

Have you ever been to that meal when after you have eaten you are still hungry.

Jesus knows how to feed the multitude but he needs his disciples to tell the people to sit down or come to the meal.

Jesus was able to feed because he was and is that bread that came down from heaven.

Manna in the wilderness.

when people see the miracles then they believe,

this is human nature we will beleive when we have seen

but Jesus said

Faith for us today is believing when we cannot see.

God, Jesus and the Holy spirit can create things out of nothing.

we can create things out of things that were.

we cannot create things out of nothing but God can

The miracle that was the feeding of the 5000 was Jesus taking something and making something great.

all of us here today would acknowledge that this was a wonderful miracle, but this miracle was that which revealed to the multitude that he was a Prophet.

They were aware of a prophet that was to come into the world and they said that he was he.

When your in the presence of almighty God or Jesus you cannot help be say that this is not of this world.

the 5000 men

There are more than 5000 men around our church and they need to be brought to the master if the only way that they will come is that they follow the miracles then we need to pray that God will start performing Miracles in our midst.

We need to understand that those people outside the following of Jesus are hungry for something and we have the bread of life here

Drugs sex and alcohol are not the answer

Jesus is the answer for the world today and we need to share our love of Jesus with other and bring them so that they might find in Jesus that Bread that will satisfy there soul

The need of the world is Jesus to satisfy its longing soul

What are we doing for this end.

first if you have never asked Jesus into your heart.

If you want to see your life filled to satifaction

we need to pray for those around to this end this October is a prayer and fast month.
