Formed For His Family

Eph 1:5
Family = Church
1 Timothy 3:14–15 CSB
I write these things to you, hoping to come to you soon. But if I should be delayed, I have written so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Benefits of Belonging

For I want very much to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, to be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
Covenant - commit to support and help each other
Benefits of Belonging
Body - I discover my unique value
Romans 12:4–5 CSB
Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.
Benefits of Belonging
Body - many parts - different and unique
Everyone’s needed - make Body complete
We each have a work to do- roles/ministries - not all the same thing
We belong to each other - not just belief / belong
We all need each other - cant fulfill God’s purpose alone
Ephesians 4:25 CSB
Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

Hebrews 13:17 CSB
Obey your leaders and submit to them, since they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

58 one another’s in NT

John 15:4–5 CSB
Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.
Benefits of Belonging
A disconnected branch cannot bear fruit
5 basic needs - identity, stability, capacity, security, productivity
Fulfill calling - Power to live, People to live with, Principles to live by, Plan to live out, Purpose to live for
Where else will you get all these? Why stay disconnected?
"On the most elementary level, you do not have to go to church to be a Christian. You do not have to go home to be married either. But in both cases if you do not, you will have a very poor relationship."- R. Kent Hughes
