Sermon Tone Analysis

OPENING

Some of you here may have not been in a church before and this is their first ever experience of being in a church

Some may have been in the church before but haven’t been for a very long

while many of you here has been in the church for maybe 1, 3, 5, 10, 20… or even 50 years or more

Regardless of which of those categories you belong, one thing is common to us all, hearing a good news is always refreshing, fascinating, re-assuring, rejuvenating,

When we wake up in the morning there are several things that we ritually do

Who says… let me see your hands

Turn on the TV and watch the news

Turn on the radio and check the weather and traffic updates

Log on to your facebook and see how many likes they got for their late evening post

Or, who makes a fresh cup of coffee, grab the Bible and check the “good news” ?

The good news that never fails to bring fresh messages every day

No matter what you do when you wake up, longing for a “good news” is common to us all

however, it is inadequate just to simply say the good about the news,

the entire story, the complete image of the news must be told

Perhaps, some of you here haven’t heard about the gospel in their entire life, totally never heard!

Maybe, some of you have heard it once in a while, when you feel like being spiritual, when you’re under tension or in transition

When you’re occasionally searching

Having mentioned the word “searching” reminded of this story

There was a guy who’s been searching for a girlfriend for a very long time

So he sought the pastor for advice, the pastor told him to pray and read the Bible

Since he is not really into praying & reading his Bible, what he did was ...

he said a very short prayer, and with his eyes closed, inserted his index finger to his Bible and that led him to a verse

Whoww!

The guy was so excited and and in his excitement, he remembered a co-worker named Grace

So he rushed back to their office and talked to Grace and told what her what happened

He said, “Grace, God said to me that you will be my wife”

Grace replied, “Whaaaat!!!” God must be wrong, I’m happily married and I already have 4 kids

The guy won’t believe what he just heard her say.

Seriously??… Grace said, yes!

positive!

The guys walked away, downcast, went to the park and decided to talk to God

He said, “Lord you said Grace will be my wife, but what will I do?.. She’s married with 4 kids?

Again, since our lead cast of the story do not really open his Bible regularly, he then again closed his eyes and without peeking, inserted his index finger to his Bible and led him to another verse...

This time its....

BREATHE!

There’s a process how to hear the true word from God

Because the Word may only be understood through the Spirit ()
