The Common Thread
The past is the hero
The past becomes an anchor which holds them back rather than a rudder to steer them forward.
Many said, “We will die before we change.”
Sadly they did.
Read highlighted paragraphs pg 18.
The dissenters that warned change must occur or the church would die were ignored and ostracized.
They left and the church died.
Sadly, this is a common thread throughout dying churches.

Everyone Loves a Hero
Biblical heroes;
Read top of 20 and 21
How do we live like heroes?
We must live in the present and press for the future
Philippians 4:
Honor and revere the past
Remember the lessons learned
But recognize it is our time.
For 127 years, one generation reached the next here at Craft Baptist Church
Now the baton is ours.
In a relay race, each runner takes his or her turn.
They pass the baton to the next to run their leg of the race
Church life is much the same
What would happen if one runner kept the baton?
THEY LOSE!
What happens if our generation fails to adapt and reach the next?
WE DIE!
Prayerful Commitment 3
God, give me the conviction and the courage to be like the heroes of Hebrews 11.
Teach me not to hold onto those things in my church that are my personal preferences and styles.
Show m e not only hot to let go, but where to let go, so that I may heed Your commands more closely.
