THE REMINDER VS 3-4
Paul starts by reminding Timothy of the charge he gave him
-He reminds him of the strong passion withwhich he gave the charge.
“URGED” (besought) - communicates a pleading
-or a begging...
-This coupled with the facts that we know Timothy is young and timid, could indicate that Timothy had considered abandioning the mission that Paul had put him on.
-He could have felt inadiquet for the task
-struggled with the wise sounding arguments of the false teachers.
-He knew sound doctrine, but maybe he didnt quite now how to refute false doctrine.
So Paul reminds him how....
“charge certain persons not to teach any differnt doctrine..”
-Young Timothy was to command the false teachers to stop.
-Where would young timothy find such authority to command such a thing?
-He would use Paul’s apostolic authority…that teaching of the apostles…just like today we would use the authority of God’s word
THESE FALSE TEACHERS WERE NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHURCH MEMBERS WHO HAVE A SLIGHT MISUNDERSTANDING OF SOUND DOCTRINE.
THE TEXT IMPLIES THAT THESE FALSE TEACHERS WERE IN THE ROLE OF PASTORS.
VS 7…HE SEE THEIR TEACHERS OF THE LAW
The emphasis on 1 Tim upon the qualifications of pastors…indictates likely unqualified men teacher
We see the doctrine they taught was a “different doctrine”
AND WE KNOW THAT IT PROMOTED SPECULATIONS RATHER THAN THE STEARDSHIP FROM GOD THAT IS BY FAITH
This refers the the Gospel itself...
II.
THE GOAL Vs5-7

LOVE - IS THE MARK OF A CHRISTIAN

-Love that is a product of the will…decision to love.
-True god honoring love.
this love comes from 3 pleases.
A Pure HEart
A pure hear comes from GOD
After David’s sin with Bathsheba
2. Good conscience
The conscience is a faculty of humanity that sort of self judges us.
Conscience refers to an individual’s inner awareness of the moral quality of personal actions
-It both condemns and affirms our actions
-Sometimes it bings guilt or remorse
-Sometimes it gives us a sense of happiness, peace, and accomplishment
_good conscience connotes a conscience that brings satisfaction and well-being
-That approves of your godly actions and sound doctrine
3. Sincere faith
-The core of sound doctrine is held too
-guiniune desire to live out the principles of your faith with true trust in God and a real walk with Christ
Theres things are not possessed by the false teachers.
