Pastoral Prayer —

Father in Heaven,
How magnificient and marvelous You are, too vast and astounding to fully understand were it not that You have revealed Yourself to us in Your blessed Word.
We contemplate the question of the Psalmist — “Who is this King of glory?” And the only answer we can give is the Psalmist’s answer — You are the Lord, strong and mighty. You are the Lord of Hosts, the King of glory. And so we worship You, O, King of Glory!
You, Lord, are the Creator and Sustainer. You spoke all things into existence, the heavens and the earth. By Your word Light came to be. You set the foundations of the earth and hung the stars on nothing in the firmament. You created the sun to give us light in the day and the moon and stars for light in the night. You divided light from day, the water from water to create the expanse, You divided the water from dry land and made us a habitable world to live in. You created vegetation to eat and every living thing that swims and flies. you created every cattle, crawling thing, and beast. You created us! And we worship You.
You are holy, pure, righteous, and true. We bow before You with our faces to the dirt. We praise You. Forgive us our sins this morning. We long to desire You more, to bask in Your glory.
You are All-Victorious. You defeated sin and death, Satan and the demons, kings and their kingdoms. Your dominion is everything. We pledge our allegiance to You. Would You rule over us?
How magnificient and marvelous and matchless are You. You are worthy, the King of Glory.
We pray in Jesus name. Amen.
