Recap
She loves him and wants to go to bed with him
She is dark, but fitting
Stuck in the fields by her step-brothers
Valuable wives are hard workers
Song of Solomon 1:7 ESV
7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?
ESV7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?
What is she doing?
She’s trying to find out where he is so she can run into him!
Is it ok for a Godly woman to try and meet up with a man? YES!
I hope! Tasha found ME!
Tell MySpace story...
“One who veils herself by the flocks...”
Who is that? Prostitutes
She says, I will not stoop. I will have your heart, or have none of you
STOP!
What do we have in this encounter?!
A hard working woman
Doesn’t think too much of her looks
Wants a man REALLY bad
But REFUSES to try and catch him by acting like a floozy
Let me say it this way, what are the important things to look for in a woman fellas?
Hard working
Humble
Wants you
Wants to save herself
What does that look like today?
Lazy -
Bad grades?
Bad hygiene?
Sleeps all day?
Full of herself -
Never stops looking in the mirror?
Thinks she’s better than everyone?
Is rude to others?
Shows no interest -
Leads you on
Doesn’t give you the time of day
-It’s ok to pursue, but you have to give up at some point!
Floozy -
Wears booty shorts
Hooks up with a lot of guys
Doesn’t even go to church...
Can anyone think of a hot celebrity who is divorced?
Can anyone think of a hot celebrity who is divorced?
Most people would die for a hot celebrity
Yet when someone has one, they still get divorced
Being hot isn’t enough to maintain a marriage
song of solomon 1:8-
Song of Solomon 1:8–17 ESV
8 If you do not know, O most beautiful among women, follow in the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents. 9 I compare you, my love, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariots. 10 Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels. 11 We will make for you ornaments of gold, studded with silver. 12 While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance. 13 My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh that lies between my breasts. 14 My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Engedi. 15 Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are doves. 16 Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, truly delightful. Our couch is green; 17 the beams of our house are cedar; our rafters are pine.
Song of Solomon 1 ESV
1 The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s. 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine; 3 your anointing oils are fragrant; your name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you. 4 Draw me after you; let us run. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you. 5 I am very dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. 6 Do not gaze at me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept! 7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it lie down at noon; for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?
Close with CAR ILLUSTRATION
A relationship is a long term commitment, like owning a car
In high school, you get what you get!
I had a 1990 Toyota pickup almost on “Pimp My Ride”
Girls, you need to decide RIGHT NOW, what kind of car you want to be...
Are you a Bugatti? Or are you a Fiesta?
Because whatever you are, you will get treated like one!
If you own a Bugatti, you take care of it
You take it to the dealer for maintenance
You park it in the garage
You wax it daily
You baby it
YOU DON’T LET YOUR FRIENDS DRIVE IT
If you own a Fiesta
You park it anywhere
You take it to any mechanic
You never wash it
You let anyone drive it
Hey Gracie, I know you’re 10, go move the Fiesta...
Check out this one!
If you let your boyfriend drive the car, and he doesn’t own the car...
That makes you a rental car!
Do I need to talk about how we drive rental cars?
SHOW VIDEO
Now guys, ask yourself what kind of car you want!
If you want a Fiesta, ok...
But if you want a Bugatti...
You need a lot of money or really good credit!
Here’s my challenge to you:
Think of the type of person you want...
Kind, Godly, hard-working, gentle, smart, funny...
Know how to get that person?
Become the kind of person that that person would want
If you want kind, you BE kind
If you want Godly, you BE Godly
You want hard-working, you BE hard-working
