God rewards those who are obedient
Thoughts
Introduction:
BF Season: We want to enter the BF season knowing what does the Bible say about giving in terms of tithing and our offering
For today’s offering message,
Tithing is out of obedience.
It is a command
God does not need our money, He is after our obedience
All that we have belongs to God - THE TITHE IS THE LORD’S ‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD
(This is good because it means no matter what financial level we are at, grain or fruit, we can tithe)
Not tithing is robbing God -
R. T. Kendall, Understanding Theology, Volume Two (Ross-shire, Great Britain: Christian Focus, 2000), 247.
It benefits us: God grows us through obedience
God grows us through obedience, and obedience in the Bible is always reward in some manner (Give examples of how the reward can be related to their season of life)
We will be no worse off for doing so; God may even prosper us (this shouldn’t surprise us).
You can never out-give God...
Practically, we learn at an early stage to give 10%, and as we grow older, it is not as difficult
THE GIFT OF GIVING

Punch Point: God rewards those who are obedient
Introduction
[Introduction - Transit from announcement]
As we are entering into our second week of building fund, I want to share about what the Bible says about giving
There are two levels of giving
Giving to God what is already His - Tithing (10% of what we earn)
Giving beyond the tithe - Offering and Building Fund
So in this building fund, before we pledge, we need to know the first level of giving which is our Tithe
Though Building Fund and Offering is voluntary, Tithing is out of obedience of our heart.
In the same way we obey when the Bible tells us not to steal, or not to murder, tithing is a commandment that we need to obey as well.
The Bible even goes to the extend to say in Malachi 3 that we are robbing God if we do not tithe.
But saying all this, I want to point out that the principle is: God does not need our money, He is after our obedience
God does not want our money, but he wants our obedience
- God does not want our money, but he wants our obedience
It does not matter if your 10% tithe is $200 or $2000.
God is looking at our obedience in saying, “God, no matter the financial circumstances I’m in, I will choose to obey”
And the Bible encourages us in
A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD
This encourages us because it does not matter what financial level we are at, grain or fruit, we can choose to obey God in our giving!
And you know what...
God always rewards those who are obedient
You can see that obedience in the Bible is always reward in some manner.
You can see in that obedience in the Bible is always reward in some manner.
Career: Breakthrough in your workplace - we know of many testimonies where members in our church found favor with bosses, or miraculously get offers when they start to obey God in their tithing.
Relationships: Family and friends
Financial situation: do not be surprised when God prospers you and you see that you are blessed way more than how much you give.
Spiritually: If you feel stuck in your spiritual walk with God, it could be because of disobedience that affects the whole of us.
When we obey God in this area, it could lead to our greatest spiritual breakthrough.
There is endless possibilities!
We truly cannot out-give God.
As a zone, we are all aiming to reach out to our friends and families.
We are all aiming to bring down the average age of the church.
We are constantly working hard, inviting friend after friend.
We are all looking for that breakthrough.
But what if, God is seeing if we can obey
Maybe, the first step as a zone is we need to be obedient in our tithe.
Imagine having a zone of Christians that are generous, that we have the fear of God knowing that tithing is a commandment, Christians who are obedient in our giving…
And through having obedience in our finance, I believe God can trust us and will reward us by bringing a breakthrough and multiplication that we have never seen before in our zone.
Pray
Speak to us, and convict our hearts to be obedient in our giving
Know that tithing is a commandment
We cannot out-give God
Pray for the people who are already tithing and obedient
Thank God for the breakthrough that is to come as we are obedient to our tithe.
