Hypocrisy is characterized by living for the attention and praise of others.
“You” is emphatic, directing the following words to His disciples rather than the general public
This certainly does not mean that they are secret words but rather that even through this type of teaching, God may use it to call sinners to repentance, allowing unbelievers a glimpse of the standard of righteousness laid before Jesus’ followers.
The title Rabbi was used towards “masters” whom disciples would follow.
