The Blessings of a God-fearing home

(Psalm 128:1-6)

Jeremiah 32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

What does it mean to fear the Lord?

Those who live in the fear of the Lord will be ?_________!  The word “________” means to be truly happy.

Simply put to fear the Lord is to _______ Him (verse 1)

The psalmist gives us some of the blessings that come from fearing the Lord.

I.        Blessings upon your _________ (verse 2)

There will be ______ for your labor.  This is something that God withheld from those who lived in disobedience.  (see Haggai 1:9-11)

The labor will be well with you.  This is a contrast of Psalm 127:2.

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

II.     Blessings upon your _______ (verse 3)

What does God mean by calling the woman of the home a vine?

God’s Word is saying that in some ways the wife is to the family what _______ is to His people.  Her ministry to her family is a ________ of the ministry of Christ to His people.

Notice that the woman is not just to be a vine.  She is to be a ________ vine.  What kind of fruit?  The fruit of the ________ of _____ (Gal. 5:22-23)

There is more!  She will reflect a Proverbs 31 woman.  A woman of God must be more focused on _______ rather than _________.  A “fruitful vine” woman is a woman of “noble character” (Prov. 31:10).

III.   Blessings upon your ________ (verses 3-6)

God likens children to _______ _______!

Though the olive tree may not bear fruit after it has been planted for forty years, it is a symbol of _________ and ____________. So are children within the household of faith!

Notice that it says that they are around ________ table.

You need to study them, listen to them, talk to them, play with them, think about them, and pray over them.

Question for thought:  According to the Bible, why is your relationship with God so important for yourself and your family?
