Nor is our pain without purpose.
The resistance is real, but serve a loving God who walks with us and talks with us through our suffering.

ARE YOU PREPARED?
Prayer of Illumination: Father I come in the name of Jesus needing you more now than I have ever needed your before, thank your for your faithfulness through out history, thank your that your word is true, that your word is spirit and life… send down your word from your mouth so that it does not return to you empty, but accomplish what you please and succeed in the purpose you sent it.
INTRODUCTION
Our text today is often use at funerals to comfort family members and friends whose loved ones who have left us for their eternal reward in Glory with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
It is used to comfort those who mourn, and to comfort those going through the pain of suffering no matter the variety.
This last week we have seen mourner on the national stage as the queen of soul Aretha Franklin and a veteran and war hero Senator John McCain were laid to rest.
In mourning we are shaken to grieve a new reality without those we love and the way of life we may have enjoyed.

Why: Not harboring any un-forgiveness, outwitted by Satan being ignorant of his design, but aware of his crafty schemes to stir up strife and bitterness among us.
Our passage this morning offers us assurances the we will have help in time of need.
But what is God preparing you for and how do you know it’s him?
I. GOD WANTS TO OPENS DOORS FOR YOU
A. ARE YOUR PREPARED _______ for the opportunities ahead of you?Every opportunity or open door we have is not always from God! Some opportunities are from the flesh, sensual and not divine at all.
So how do you determine if the opportunities are moves of God? Opportunities he sends are living experiences not dead-ends, place of complacency or relaxation.
He births in us a desire to do his will that will aways move us beyond our comfort zone.
B. He gives us opportunities in Christ that connects to greater opportunities.
C. Do you pass the sniff test?
When you have gone somewhere you are not suppose to be those who love you know... God knows, your parents know, you teachers know, your pastor knows?

But what does our help look like so we can recognize it in time of need?

GOD WANTS YOU TO SMELL GOOD TO HIM
A. ARE YOU PREPARED TO BE USED BY GOD?
When God is leading you there is always progress and victory.
God makes us a blessing to him and those around us.
How? by working out of us what he has put in us.
Many of us don’t know what we are made of until we go through difficulties and then we see that there is more to us that what meets the eye.
B. God leads us in joining the victorious procession in Christ Jesus sending up sweet smelling savor.
That spirit of fear and defeat is not of God, we may have set back, but we are never, never, never without hope.
We are not storing up defeat, but victories in Christ Jesus!
IF GOD BE FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US!!!

Where he leads me I will follow, where he sends me I will go, when he calls me I will answer
Sometimes you can’t you how blessed you are until you are on the other side of your trouble.
We you look back over you life and think things over you can truly say that I am blessed I got a testimony.
Where is your overflow?
How has God double blessed you to be a help to others?
Our passage this morning offers us assurances the we will have help in time of need.
But what does our help look like so we can recognize it in time of need?
III.
GOD WANTS YOU TO BE CONFIDENT IN CHRIST
A. ARE YOU PREPARED TO WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN?How can you make a living and serve God at the same time?
Some put the Gospel message on sale to make a living rather than building up the Church of Jesus Christ.
B. Everything that we encounter in life is needful for who we are becoming.
C.
Where do you get your confidence from?
Who prepares you for the great opportunity before you?
God didn’t bring you this far to leave you now!
Recapitulation: The good news is we can recognize our help in time of need, because our help is not limited, it overflows us, and sustains us in Christ Jesus.

Final Application
All these funerals, losses and changes in life helped me appreciate faithfulness of God’s unchanging hand.
