Paul’s Message

1. The Greatness of God: He is the CREATOR.
Acts 17:24 NASB95
“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
2. The Goodness of God: He is the PROVIDER.
Acts 17:25 NASB95
nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
3. The Government of God: He is the RULER.
Acts 17:26 NASB95
and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
4. The Grace of God: Jesus is the SAVIOR.
Acts 17:30–31 NASB95
“Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”
Acts 17:29–30 NASB95
“Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,
3 Responses to the Message:
Acts 17:
1. The first group of people were INDIGNANT.
Acts 17:32 NASB95
Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer, but others said, “We shall hear you again concerning this.”
2, The next group of people were CURIOUS.
Acts 17:32 NASB95
Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer, but others said, “We shall hear you again concerning this.”
3. The third group of people BELIEVED.
Acts 17:34 NASB95
But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.
Acts 17:33 NASB95
So Paul went out of their midst.
Acts 17:
How then should we live and act in our increasingly pluralistic culture?
Live RIGHTEOUSLY
1 Peter 1:14–16 NASB95
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Evangelize & Disciple
Mark 1:17 NASB95
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Evangelize BOLDLY
Romans 1:16
Romans 1:16 NASB95
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
You see, religion is our attempt at finding God.
Christianity is God’s plan to find us.
