1. Always Good - :20-21
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive
. (ESV)
God’s Good Purposes
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil that we did to him.” 16 So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave this command before he died: 17 ‘Say to Joseph, “Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.” ’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him. 18 His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” 19 But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? 20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. 21 So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
3. Detailed - (ESV)
23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way;
4. Joyful - (The Message)
Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise,
who shout on parade in the bright presence of God.
5. Replete with wisdom - (The Message)
If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice,
I’ll go to sleep each night trusting in you.
Point out the road I must travel;
I’m all ears, all eyes before you.
6. Continuous - :11Isaiah 58:11 (ESV)
11 And the Lord will guide you continually
and satisfy your desire in scorched places
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters do not fail.
7. Profitable - (NKJV)
7–8 “But blessed is the man who trusts me, God,
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
the woman who sticks with God.
And whose hope is the Lord.
They’re like trees replanted in Eden,
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
putting down roots near the rivers—
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
Never a worry through the hottest of summers,
And will not fear when heat comes;
never dropping a leaf,
But its leaf will be green,
Serene and calm through droughts,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
bearing fresh fruit every season.
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
8. Specific and Definite - ; (ESV)
Jonah Flees the Presence of the Lord
1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.”
(ESV)
Jonah Goes to Nineveh
3 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying,
9. Eternal - (NASB95)
Made Alive in Christ
(NKJV)
2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
The Whole Armor of God
3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
(NASB95) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
10. An Assurance - (NIV)
Concluding Affirmations
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
514. Hope for the Hopeless
514. Hope for the Hopeless
One night when I was crossing the Atlantic, an officer of our boat told me that we had just passed over the spot where the Titanic went down. And I thought of all that life and wreckage beyond the power of man to recover and redeem. And I thought of the great bed of the deep sea, with all its held treasure, too far down for man to reach and restore. "Too far down!" And then I thought of all the human wreckage engulfed and sunk in oceanic depths of nameless sin. Too far gone! For what? Too far down! For what? Not too far down for the love of God! Listen to this: He descended into hell, and He will descend again if you are there. "If I make my bed in hell, thou art there" (). "Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound" (). "He bore our sin" (see ); then He got beneath it; down to it and beneath it; and there is no human wreckage lying in the ooze of the deepest sea of iniquity that His deep love cannot reach and redeem. What a Gospel! However far down, God's love can get beneath it!
