Here Mark demonstrates some foundational truths concerning the person and work of Jesus Christ:
What mistaken idea(s) / conclusions does the world hold onto concerning Jesus?

The wrong conclusions about Jesus Christ's Personhood. (vv. 22-26)

Mark 3:22–26 NIV
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.” 23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.
Sin robs us of the ability to see logically. We become so blind we cannot understand simple principles.

Jesus is the uniter of the created back to the Creator.

2 Corinthians 5:18 NIV
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
.
1 Timothy 2:5 NIV
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

)
Jesus’ message often cause divisions, but these divisions manifested because of sin, namely pride. Humans do not want to follow a Lord, but rather want to left alone to do whatever they wish to do.
Satan is a divider.
Satan is the chief promoter of church divisions.
Satan is the chief promoter of religious divisions.
Satan is a divider.
Divisions in the church provide a lost person with one of the most effective arguments against Christianity.
Divisions in the church provide a lost person with one of the most effective arguments against Christianity.
“If they can’t love one another, how can they love me?”
“If the church means “fighting” I don’t want to be a part of it.”
Divisions help the devil to destroy individuals and to keep them in bondage.
Divisions cause weakness in our church because they absorb the energy, time and resources which could be used for ministry.
Let us resolve, so far as in us lies, to avoid all differences, dissensions, and disputes. Let us loathe and abhor them as the plague of the church. (J. C. Ryle)

Jesus is the Prince of Peace not a prince of demons.

He is the Prince of Peace not a prince of demons.
Ephesians 2:17–18 NIV
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
Colossians 1:20–21 NIV
20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

Satan came to wage war against God and to destroy God's creation of humankind.
Satan came to wage war against God and to destroy God's creation of humankind.
Jesus did not come to wage war with God's enemies, but to bring peace to the warfare by sacrificing himself.
Jesus did not come to wage war with God's enemies (us), but to bring peace to the warfare by sacrificing himself.
We are all born into the enemy camp. Rebellion is in our DNA.
Without Christ we are in the enemies' camp, but Jesus came to deliver us out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:12–13 NIV
12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,()

The wrong conclusions about Jesus Christ's Power. (vv. 27-30)

Mark 3:27–30 NIV
27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” 30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
The people thought Jesus had power like Satan had power.
Jesus did not have the power of Satan, he has power over Satan!
v.27 Jesus power to forgive is stronger than our ability to sin and stronger than Satan’s ability to keep us bound to sin.
What sins that we commit can Jesus not forgive?
The blaspheming of the Holy Spirit is what the Pharisees did when they accused Jesus of being in league with Satan.
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is what the Pharisees did when they accused Jesus of being in league with Satan.
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is when we attribute to Satan, what only God can do and has done.
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is when we attribute to Satan and mankind, what only God can do and has done.
When a person looks at creation and thinks that somehow it just happened and that there is no God that is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
When a person looks at creation and thinks that somehow it just happened and that there is no God that is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
Romans 1:18–20 NIV
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Disregarding the power of a Holy God is dangerous!
When a person believes that their goodness is what they need to get to heave, that is blasphemy.
When a person believes that their goodness is what they need to get to heave, that is blasphemy.
When a person believes that their goodness is what they need to get to heave, that is blasphemy.
All this to say that the rejection of the person and power of Christ is the unforgivable sin, which will be punished.
All this to say that the rejection of the person and power of Christ is the unforgivable sin, which will be punished.
All of us while breathing on this earth, have he opportunity to accept Jesus as our only hope of eternal life with God.
All of us while breathing on this earth, have he opportunity to accept Jesus as our only hope of eternal life with God.
Only Jesus has the power to forgive sins.
Only Jesus has the power to forgive sins.
Only Jesus has the power to forgive all our sins.

The wrong conclusions about Jesus Christ's Purpose. vv. (20-21; 31-34)

Mark 3:20–21 NIV
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
Mark 3:31–34 NIV
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.” 33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked. 34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!
Jesus came to start a family called the church.
mk 3 31-314

Jesus came to start a family called the church.

Jesus was not suggesting that believers ignore or abandon their families in order to serve God, but only that they put God’s will above everything else in life.
He went so far as to reconstitute his own family from biological to spiritual.
He went so far as to reconstitute his own family from biological to spiritual.
He went so far as to reconstitute his own family from biological to spiritual.
It is God’s will that we care for our families and provide for them (see ), but we must not permit even our dearest loved ones to influence us away from the will of God. Warren Wiersbe
His biological family made other presumptions.
They were afraid Jesus was acting foolishly and would bring dishonor to the family.
It is dangerous when we presume to know Jesus' purposes too.
He is always wanting to save the lost, his reputation and standing in the community were not a concern.

The church is referred to in Scripture as:
A house
1 Peter 2:5 NIV
5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
A house
A flock
John 10:16 NIV
16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
A body
1 Corinthians 12:27 NIV
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
A bride
Revelation 21:9 NIV
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
Jesus Christ’s purpose was to bring his Bride (the church, his family) to the Father.
Revelation 1:6 NIV
6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
We enter his family by being born into it by the Holy Spirit.

Am I a peacemaker withing the Body of Christ?
Do I have a burden for a lost person God has brought across my path?
Do I believe I can sin more than Jesus can forgive, is it too late for me?
