Introduction
There is so much fighting and turmoil in the world. There are wars and rumors of wars all over the world.
Even as we look at our own lives, to many times we find ourselves in turmoil with others.
People are selfish and prideful. Looking out for themselves before anyone else.
Some of us wake up thinking about the enemies of our lives.
How do we manage the struggles and conflict of life?
Do I need to call them up and set them straight?
Do I need to respond to that facebook post that was ment just for me?
Do I need to separate myself and just unfriend them all together?
Do I need to get a divorce to get the enemy out of my house?
Should I quit my job to remove the conflict with my boss?
Do I need to forbid my kids from coming over to my house?
Should I not visit my Dad so he can’t hurt me anymore?
These are real issues that we deal with everyday.
The Apostle Paul tells me to live peaceably with all men as much as possible. This is a lot easier said than done.
What if I told you that all you really need is to be a peace with God.
Truth is most people don’t believe they are at peace with God.
My sin is to great for God to be at peace with me.
Maybe I should just separate from God so this conflict in me goes away.
I don’t understand God’s influence in my life and I’m angry with Him and consequentially i’m angry with everyone else as well.
If you are at peace with God you can handle all the conflicts of life and not loose your hope, joy, or even your sanity.
As we look at today we will discover the “Power of Peace with God.”
Bible Lesson
Romans 5:1 ESV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
What is “Peace with God”?

Peace with God comes only through the power of Christ.

Peace with God comes at the high price of war and personal sacrifice.

In our weakness Christ is strong

Romans 5:6 ESV
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:7–8 ESV
7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s love is our saving grace.
The blood of Jesus is our reconciliation and peace.
Romans 5:9 ESV
9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
Rom 5:9-10

Christ is powerful enough to save us from our sin.

Romans 5:17 ESV
17 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
The righteousness of Christ is offered as a free gift to all those who believe in him.
The Righteousness of Christ is all we need to find peace with God
Romans 5:18–19 ESV
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
Romans 5:18 ESV
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
How does peace with God empower me today?

Peace with God gives us hope for the future.

Romans 5:2 ESV
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:2

Your peace with God through Christ today secures your future hope for all eternity.

No matter what happens down here we know that it’s just for a moment.
Hope says this is not the end. The game is not over. I have the final victory in Christ.

Your peace with God brings hope for the trials of today.

Romans 8:28 ESV
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:26 ESV
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Peace with God gives us power to overcome the struggles of life.

Romans 5:3–5 ESV
3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:3 ESV
3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
Romans 5

Sufferings of life shape your maturity in Christ.

Your ability to handle adversity reveals your maturity in Christ.
Therefore, we rejoice is sufferings as it shapes us into the image of christ.

Peace with God replaces anxiety.

Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Phil

Maturity says God is for me and not against me.
Maturity says God hear my prayers and cares about my needs.
Maturity says God will keep me and fight for me when the struggles come.

Peace with God makes us victors over every situation.

2 Corinthians 4:8–10 ESV
8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
2 Cor 4:8
God never promised to remove the struggles of life, just that we have victory over them.
God never promised there wouldn’t be hard time just that he would never leave us or forsake us.
Let the peace of God keep your heart and minds.
So how do we handle struggles in the Power of Peace with God.
Ask God to bring his peace over your situation.
Live in expectation that God will walk with you in life.
Rejoice in the sufferings as they mold you to trust in the God you loves you.
