Created For a Purpose.

Jeremiah 1:4–5 NASB95
4 Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
You are God’s idea. He’s the one with the plan. He’s the one with the purpose.
Psalm 139:14–15 NASB95
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Psalm 139:16 NASB95
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
Psalm 139:17 NASB95
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Psalm 139:18 NASB95
18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Every one of God’s thoughts toward me are filled with the power to bring it to pass. Every thought leads me toward the God Ordained future, and the God expected Hope for my life.
God Ordained Thoughts of David.
1 Samuel 16:1 NASB95
1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.”
Story, Then on to vs 12
1 Samuel 16:12–13 NASB95
12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
THE LORD SAID......WHO SAID? THE LORD. God thought. God plan. God’s power to bring it to pass.
Fight of the Century
Goliath Vs. David
Goliath.......”I’m going to kill you.”
David.......”GOD SAID, I’m going to be King.”

1 Samuel 17:57 NASB95
57 So when David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the Philistine’s head in his hand.
God’s thought had the ability to turbo-charge a slingshot.
Continue:
1 Samuel 18:6–9 NASB95
6 It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments. 7 The women sang as they played, and said, “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” 8 Then Saul became very angry, for this saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, but to me they have ascribed thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” 9 Saul looked at David with suspicion from that day on.
Vs. 7 Good to be David, Vs 8-9
Vs 10
1 Samuel 18:10–11 NASB95
10 Now it came about on the next day that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he raved in the midst of the house, while David was playing the harp with his hand, as usual; and a spear was in Saul’s hand. 11 Saul hurled the spear for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David escaped from his presence twice.
Vs. 11 Twice. But God had a plan.
For the next 14 Years, Saul tries to kill David and the plan God has for him.
1 Samuel 19:8–10 NASB95
8 When there was war again, David went out and fought with the Philistines and defeated them with great slaughter, so that they fled before him. 9 Now there was an evil spirit from the Lord on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, and David was playing the harp with his hand. 10 Saul tried to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, so that he stuck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.
1 Samuel 30:1–2 NASB95
1 Then it happened when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had made a raid on the Negev and on Ziklag, and had overthrown Ziklag and burned it with fire; 2 and they took captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great, without killing anyone, and carried them off and went their way.
Without killing anyone. We know this. David and his men do not. As far as they know, everyone might be dead. They may never see their families again. Scripture reveals just a little to us so we know, God was not blind-sided.
1 Samuel 30:3–4 NASB95
3 When David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until there was no strength in them to weep.
Proverbs 13:12 NASB95
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Deferred: Slowed, or removed.
Heart: Physical, Core of your belief system.
Romans 10:10 NASB95
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
*Dad - Allen you are not believing me for anything anymore.
Unchecked Disappointment, can lead to depression. Unchecked depression can lead to Depression. Unchecked depression can lead to Grief.
Back to 1 Samuel
1 Samuel 30:4 NASB95
4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until there was no strength in them to weep.
The Grief robs them of their strength. (ability to produce)
1 Samuel 30:5 NASB95
5 Now David’s two wives had been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.
David is part of them. He is wailing, crying at the top of his voice. This moment has stolen his strength. It has stolen his family. There is great loss.
(Demonstrate)
But then there is a shift.
1 Samuel 30:6 NASB95
6 Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
First half of the verse.
Greatly: vehemently: Fierce aggressive, diligently Distressed: In a tight space. Everything is closing in.
The whole mob begins to plan Davids defeat.
Unchecked Discouragement, depression and grief, will soon turn on you to destroy you.
1 Samuel 30:6 NASB95
6 Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
Click: Fade in But David.... Strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
The Lord.......YOUR GOD.
David Made a Move.
Jesus is the Best Example of Jesus.
Well, I’m just going to go over there and set them free. Do you see it in the life of Jesus? Every healing and deliverance, involved the person or one with authority in the life of the person, making the move toward Jesus. (explain)
Mark 5:21 Jairus, “My little daughter”
Mark 5:34 Woman With the Issue of Blood, “Daughter your faith....”
Luke 7:7 Centurion, “My servant”
Luke 9:38 Unnamed man. “Teacher my only child...”
In Each Situation, the one with authority, approaches Jesus.
When we are ministering healing or deliverance, we take as much authority as is given to us.
Mark 5:1–7 NKJV
1 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”
Read: VS 4. This man is possessed, We are talking more about Oppression, depression, discouragement and overwhelming grief.
Vs 5. Sum it up.
Vs 6. Long way off. He runs to Jesus, The supernatural strength of the demons can not stop him once he makes up his mind to get to Jesus. He falls at His feet and worships Him. Once he gets there, the demons make one last effort. Vs 7.
Mark 5:8–15 NASB95
8 For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he said to Him, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now there was a large herd of swine feeding nearby on the mountain. 12 The demons implored Him, saying, “Send us into the swine so that we may enter them.” 13 Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea. 14 Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country. And the people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the “legion”; and they became frightened.

How do we make someone as big as God bigger? We exalt him over our circumstances.
