Evidence for the Resurrection

John Stott suggests, “Perhaps the transformation of the disciples of Jesus is the greatest evidence of all for the resurrection.

It was the resurrection which transformed Peter’s fear into courage and James’ doubt into faith.

It was the resurrection which changed the Sabbath into Sunday and the Jewish remnant into the Christian Church.

It was the resurrection which changed Saul the Pharisee into Paul the apostle and turned his persecuting into preaching.”*

The power of the Resurrection is to work out in these mortal bodies.

Therefore,

The believer’s new life is a life that is risen with Christ (v.1) ; Eph. 2:1,6

God identify us with Christ in His death and resurrection

God’s reckons, credits, and counts it so.

Note then: His resurrection means,

that we have risen with Him, conquered death, raised to a new life

that our old life in this sinful world is over; it no longer has a claim upon us

that we are walking in newness of life, a life that is dead to sin, but live to God(righteousness and holiness

The believer’s new life is a life that seeks the things above-(heaven, where Christ is)(v.1-4)

set your “affection”, that is your mind constantly on heavenly things, not earthly.

The resurrection of Christ tells us what the things of Christ and of heaven are:

The resurrection of Christ shows and guarantees that Christ is the Son of God()

24and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

The resurrection saves and justifies us()

The resurrection of Christ gives us or raises us up to a new life—a life that is abundant and eternal()

The resurrection of Chris gives us power to live victoriously over the sins and trials of this world and to bear the fruit of God’s Spirit as we walk throughout the world(; ; -13; ; Ph 2:8-9,12-13; )

The resurrection gives us a living hope, the hope of glory(; ,)

The resurrection assures that God will judge the world by Christ(Acts17:31; )

We are

We are hid in Christ.

He is the only life that God sees as living.

Christ is the only life, the only body that is seen by God and that is to be seen by the world(; ; Ph 1:21; 1 Jn 3:14)
