We will all at times be burdened in life for different reasons.
Job 14:1
We may be weary from different things such as:
The burden of sin - Psalm 38:4
The burden of unnecessary religious demands - Matthew 23:4
The burden of worry or anxiety about life - Proverbs 12:25
The burden of chasing fulfillment and purpose
the burden of feeling alone in our struggles

JESUS’ INVITATION IS FOR ALL WHO ARE WEARY

Matthew 11:28 ESV
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Jesus’ invitation answers a universal human need - REST.
Matthew 11:28
Jesus invites ALL who are weary - and Jesus HIMSELF will give rest.
Only Jesus can:
Give rest from the burden of Sin - Acts 4:12; Hebrews 10:10; 1 John 1:8-10
Give rest from the burden of worry and anxiety - Matthew 6:25; Hebrews 13:5-6, 8; Phil 4:4-6
Give rest from the weariness of chasing fulfillment - John 10:10; Eph. 2:10
Give rest from unnecessary religious requirements - Matthew 23:4; Mark 7:5, 8-9
Mark 7:5–9 ESV
And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “ ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!
Give rest from the weariness of doing life alone - Matthew 28:20
Jesus says, “Come to ME and I will give you rest!
The rest we seek cannot happen unless we are willing to come to Him.
We cannot expect to find rest if we ask Jesus to come to us without committing to Him.

JESUS’ YOKE IS EASY AND HIS BURDEN IS LIGHT.

Matthew 11:29–30 ESV
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
What is the yoke Jesus is speaking of?
The yoke is a physical object that symbolizes our spiritual partnership with Christ.
The yoke of Christ implies work in the Kingdom
How is His yoke light if we are working and obeying all His commands?
Being a follow of Christ is a complete life commitment full of responsibilities. Such as:
Sharing the truth of Jesus - Matthew 10:32; 2 Timothy 1:8
Doing good deeds to help others - Galatians 6:10; Luke 12:33
Living like Christ in every area of your life - Ephesians 5:12; 1 Peter 1:15
2 Timothy 1:8 ESV
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
Galatians 6:10 ESV
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Ephesians 5:1 ESV
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
1 Peter 1:15 ESV
but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
Again, how is His burden light?
His yoke is easy because ___ __ ____ ___!
His yoke is easy because He has __________ us ______ _______!
2 Corinthians 13:5
Romans 8:9-10
2 Corinthians 3:18
2 Corinthians 13:5 ESV
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
Romans 8:9–10 ESV
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
2 Corinthians 3:18 ESV
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Jesus is gentle and humble in heart! Being yoked with Him in life is a joy not a burden!
It is a joy to life for Him not a burden - 1 John 5:3
1 John 5:3 ESV
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
