Good Evening, hows everybody doing tonight?

What is the best way to give glory to God? How can we as sons and daughters of God give Him glory?

Is it through our singing, is it through our preaching is it through our giving,or serving?

What is the best way that we as sons and daughters of God can give him the glory and the praise He deserves.

Well let me answer my own question, the best way we can bring glory and honor to God is by living a consistent life, by letting our light shine before men, that they might see our good works and glorify our father in heaven.

Putting ourselves in His hands so that He can mold us and shape us and make us to be what God desires us to be.

So with that in mind let’s look at verses 1-6

Jeremiah 18:1-6

Heavenly Father thank you for allowing us the privelage to come into Your house and study Your word, please teach us tonight and speak to our hearts for Jesus sake amen.

Imagine a fish that could not swim, imagine a dog that couldnt bark, imagine a cat that couldnt meow, imagine a rabbit that couldn’t hop, imagine a bird that couldn’t fly, imagine a lion that couldn’t roar, imagine a cow that couldn’t moo.

It be real sad if none of those things do what God created them to do, everything that God created do what He created them to do.

From the day they were created thats why you never a hear a dog say meow.

You never hear a cow cluck like a chicken.

Why because creation does what god created it to do.

God created the sun to rise in the east and set in the west and it does exactly what He tells it to do.

God made birds to fly, and fish to swim and lizards to crawl.

All of those things do what God created them to do, so think of the pain and the hurt that God feels when Gods special creation mankind dont do what God created them to do.

Out of all the things that god created do what God created them to do, except Gods special creation and the reason it pains God we are His special creation.

Think about it when god created the animals and the birds and the bees and the sun and moon, God just spoke and it came into being.

But not so with you and me, when God decided to create mankind the Bible says God called the Trinity together and God said LET US MAKE MAN AFTER OUR IMAGE AND AFTER OUR LIKENESS and God did something for you and me that He didnt do for the birds and the bees and that is that He breathed into the mans nostrils and man became a living soul.

Its no wonder that the psalmist said “WHAT IS MAN THAT THOU ARE MINDFUL OF HIM, OF THE SON OF MAN THAT THOU VISITED HIM.”

So imagine the pain that God feels when God’s special creation doesnt do what He created us to do.

Imagine the pain God feels when men who God created to be men one day decide I dont wanna be a man anymore.

Think of the pain God feels when women who God created to be women one day decide I dont wanna be a woman anymore, think of the pain God feels when husbands dont love their wives as Christ loved the church think of the pain God feels when wives dont respect their husbands and honor them anymore.

Think of the pain God feels when teenagers dont obey their parents anymore, think of the pain God feels when preachers dont preach the whole truth of Gods word.

Think of the pain God feels when churches who god created to be unified familes spread strife and division and allow preferences to override Gods perfect plan to win souls to the Lord.

Rather than being known for their love are instead known by their backbiting and fighting.

Think of the pain God feels when Sunday School teachers dont live the life they teach about, think of the pain God feels when choir members and music leaders dont live the life they sing about in their song, think about the pain God feels when people who profess to be believers dont read and obey the word of God, think of the pain God feels when His special creation dont give Him glory and dont give him honor.

Its no wonder why our nation is messed up, its no wonder why our society is messed up, its no wonder why our states are messed up, its no wonder why our communities are messed up its no wonder why our churches are messed up, its no wonder why our families are messed up when people dont do what god created them to do.

You have chaos, you have confusion, you have chaos, you have division, you have humanism, you have rebellion, you have no respect of life.

When people dont do what God created them to do.

Those people need a touch from the masters hands.

IN THE MASTERS HAND

Here in we find Jeremiah the priest the preacher, the prophet, the man of God.

He’s nicknamed the weeping prophet, because He is constantly crying over the sins of Israel.

You know they take one step forward and 3 steps backwards.

They do good on the sabbath, but they messed up the rest of the week.

Jeremiah says god I dont know what else to do, He said I preach GOd I teach, I’ve tried everything God but it looks like the more I try the worse they get , and I believe using my sanctified imagination I believe that God came to Jeremiah here in and said something like this… JEREMIAH SHUT UP

I didn’t call you to cry man I called you to preach!

Wipe the tears from your eyes, Jeremiah wipe the snot from your nose and this is what I want you to do.

Son go down to the potters house and watch what the potter does with the clay!

Can I not do with the children of Israel what the potter does with the clay?

In other words Jeremiah needs a touch from the masters hands.

No matter where you go you will find people who need a touch from the masters hand, our families need a touch from the masters hand, our marriages need a touch, teenagers need a touch, college students needa touch, our schools need a touch, Lord have mercy our government needs a touch, and yes our chruches need a touch from the masters hand.

WHY DO WE NEED A TOUCH FROM THE MASTERS HAND.... Im glad you asked

There are several reasons you and I need a touch from the masters hand if were going to give glory and honor to God

Because were messed up

Were marred sin does that.

The first reason we need a touch from the masters hand is because were messed up, were marred.

when Adam and Eve sinned in genesis 3 when they listened to the devil rather than listen to God when Adam and eve listened to Lucifer rather than the Lord.

That sin made it so that ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

Its hereditary I got it from my mamme and daddy, they got it from their momma and daddy … on back to a place called Eden.

Thats

Ever since Adam and Eve sinned sin has done a job on us, sin destroys, sin abuses, sin is a catastrophe, think about it sin makes us do foolish things, sin makes us say foolish things.

Sin destroys indivisuals, sin destroys familes, sin destroys chruches, sin destroys cities and states and societies, and dreams and lives and hope.

When we are not who God created us to be to give Him glory praise and honor its because of our sin nature.

Its because of sin that lives on the inside of us, the apsotle Paul who was one of the greatest missiaonries to ever live, one of the greatest evangelist who ever lived,

Paul talks about this struggle with his flesh

Paul said stuff I shouldnt do thats the stuff I do, places I shouldn’t go thats the places I go, He said I find within me a law that every time I attempt to do good evil is right there.

This flesh that every born again believer has is so corrupt its so bad that God tells every believer that when a CHristian dies put that body in the ground because God doesnt want that flesh entering into Heaven.

Its so bad the Bible tells us He is going to give us a brand new incorruptible body once we get into Heaven, and our flesh is so bad that god doesnt even want it in Heaven.

the first reason we need a touch, ladies you have issues, men you have strongholds, we have addictions because sin has done a job on us..

So the first reason we need a touch from the masters hand but secondly

We Cant Fix Ourselves

Notice the clay did not fix itself, the POTTER FIXED THE CLAY

Read all the self help books you want YOU CANT FIX YOURSELF.

Stop trying to handle life by yourself, you cant fix it by yourself, we can paint it up, we can dress it up, we can polish it up, but we cannot fix whats on the inside.

There was a elderly lady who had a heart attack, she was down in surgery and she was unconscious and she heard the doctor say, oh call in next of kin it dont look like shes gonna make it, looks like were gonna lose her, and so she cried out in her unconscious and she said God I dont wanna die.

She said god I wanna see my childrens children, she said god I have been a believer for a long time I have supported my church financially and invested my time to your work, she said God I read in the Ot where Hezekiah was about to die and Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and asked for some more years, and you gave Hezekiah some more years.

She said God I am a believer if you did it for Hezekiah why wont you do it for me.

God said you right you have been faithful so I am going to let you live some more years, so she came out of it and she decided she was going to get an extreme makeover, she got a new haristyle she got botox got all the wrinles taken out of her face, she got a nose job.... she looked like a totally different person.

On the day they were bringing her out of the hospital the nurse was pushing her in a wheelchair to the family parking lot, and then came an abulance moving so fast with a gunshot victim and it hit the lady and killed her on the spot.

she died and when she got up to Heaven she said god what happened?

You told me you were gonna give me some years, you told me you were gonna let me live.

God looked at her and said baby I didnt recognize ya.

We can paint it up, we can dress it up, but we cant fix ourselves.

You can blame anything you want, but you cant fix you.

Because were marred were messed up yall, sin has done a job on us.

We have got to deal with sin as God deals with sin, weve got to deal with sin and look at sin as God deals with sin.

Tony Evans tells a story about him and his wife and they had a crack in the wall of their house and he calls a fix it man and he says he is tired of seeing the crack in the wall of his house, his kids are tired of seeing it his wife is tired of seeing it.

The contractor said Dr. Evans I I cant fix this he said I got some compound out in the truck right now, so he went out to his truck got the compound and he started stirring it up put it over the crack, and it dried and he painted it and Dr.

Evans paid him the money being satisfied with the job, the only problem was 30 days later the crack came back in the wall.

Dr.

Evans called the man back and he said whats up with this I paid you good money to fix this crack in the wall now its back, the man said Im so sorry maybe I had some old compound I just came back form home depot I got some new stuff I can fix it for no charge, so he went up and he fixed and they went their seperate ways the only problem was 30 days later the crack came back in the wall.

He said man I cant believe this so Dr. evans said I aint gonna fool with that guy anymore so he called a proffessional home builder a guy who builds homes from the ground up.

He told him the story....

The man said Dr. Evans I know I can fix this crack in the wall, I am a third generation homebuilder, I promise you I can fix this crack, he said if you would give me 15-20 minutes and just let me take a walk around your house Ill come back and tell you what the problem is, Dr.

Evans said you dont need to go outside the probelm is right here.

The homebuilder said sir with all do respect I dont tell you how to preach sermons dont tell me how to fix houses.

The guy went outside 15-20 minutes he came back and he said I have got some good news and I have some bad news, Dr.

Evans said give me the good news first.

The man said well while I was outside I found the problem, The bad news is that your foundation is shifting, you have a shifting foundation, Dr.

Evans until you fix your foundation you will always have a crack in the wall of your house.

Could that be our problem?

Why we keep playing with the grace of God and the mercies of God, we do ok on Sundays but mess up the rest of the week.We do ok this month, but we mess up the next month, and we keep trying to patch the crack, new makeup, new clothes, new Bible, but the cracks still there.

But guys the problem is on the inside we got to get to the foundation, weve got to get to the heart of the matter, in other words weve got to deal with sin, like God deals with sin and stop trying to patch cracks, and deal with the shifting foundation of our lives.

WE MUST SIN AS GOD SEES SIN

We see sin differently than God sees sin,

Man sees sin as an accident, God sees sin as an abomination
