God’s will is everything that you don’t want to do. He wants to make life somber, sorrowful, and hard
God’s will is a magical adventure with signs all around you. If your not careful you may win the lottery but accidentally throw it away
God’s will is a series of dots where we have one spouse, one job, one etc, and you have to spend life connecting the dots of all God’s specifics

Foundation Pursuit in Christian Living: Do the will of God

Psalm 143:10 ESV
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Not teach me to understand/know you will, not help me find your you.
This wasn’t an issue of knowing God’s will but doing it meaning it sounds like David knew what God’s will was!
Luke 22:42 ESV
saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
Jesus was devoted to God’s will and lived his life dedicated to that
John 5:30 ESV
“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
The Lord’s Prayer: Your WILL be done
Romans 15:32 ESV
so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.
Paul lived his life in the pursuit of the will of God.
1 Peter 4:2 ESV
so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.
Peter wanted believers to spend the rest of their life living in the WILL of God
Colossians 4:12 ESV
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.
Paul believed that all Christians may stand fully assured in all the will of God!

God’s Sovereign Will

10  The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;

he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

11  The counsel of the LORD stands forever,

the plans of his heart to all generations

God frustrates/ surpasses the will of all things on the earth. God’s will cannot be changed and remains consistent from generation to generation
Isaiah 46:9–10 (ESV) — 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2016), Is 46:9–10.
God had a plan from the beginning and that will not be stopped or messed up. God will accomplish what he set out to do.
Ephesians 1:11 ESV
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

God’s Will for Men (what he desires from Men)

God’s Sovereign Will on our part does not affect the progression of God’s sovereign will. God will providentially take the infinite number of human decisions and work them toward his purpose
Nothing we do will alter the end of the plan, but everything we do will alter our blessing, our joy, obedience, usefulness, now and forever
If God wants you to know His will then he didn’t hide it.
It’s not dependent upon a magical revelation, he made it obvious where to look and he is going to hold you accountable to it.
Gods word
God’s will in his word is that you be saved- rescued from eternal punishment
1 tim 2:4
2 Pet 3:9
We would put our trust in Christ
The will of the father is that you listen to the Son and trust the son.
Mark 9:7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.
God’s will starts with being saved by trusting in the Son, if this is not done- the seeking of God’s will is a waste
That we would be spirit filled
Eph 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit
Be filled with the spirit rather then uncontrolled- Filling in the greek in a controlling sense
like wind filling sails and moving it
being spirit filled:
eph 5:19-21 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
being spriit filled is being filled with the Word- applying the word has the same results in this passage as eph passage
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
To be seperated from Sin- sanctification
1 Thess 4:3-7 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.
If you are in sexual sin- the simple revealed will of God to avoid, then your relationship is certainly not the will of God with that person
Act in Honor, handle your body with honor.
don’t take advantage of anyone for any reason
That you would be Submissive
James 4:7 Submit therefore to God
Eph 5 Submit to one another- humility
Hebrews 13:7 submit to those over you (pastors, elders)
1 Peter 2:13 submit to every human institution
1 Peter 2:15 For such is the will of GOd
Your life should be characterized by humility, submissiveness- that's the will of God
That you suffer
1 Peter 3:17 It is better- that you should suffer for doing what is right rather then doing what is wrong.
1 Peter 4:19 Let those who suffer according to the will of God and trust their souls to a faithful creator in doing what is right
suffering perfects you
God wants us to live such godly lives that it will bring reproach and scorn and difficulty and alienation and who knows where
1 Peter 5:10 After you’ve suffered awhile, the Lord make you mature, perfect
2 Corinthians 12 Pual embraced suffering becuase he saw it in the hand of God
God’s will is that you be saying thanks
1 Thess 5:18 in everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you
Constant joy and prayer filled with thanks

If you’re saved, spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, suffering, and thankful- Do what ever you want!

That is the answer to should I do this or should I do that!
If these things are true, God is already controlling your wants-do whatever you want.
Go where you want but be sure what you want is coming from a heart that delights in God’s will and ways.
Psalm 37:4 ESV
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
God’s will is simply a matter of following desires that God has planted in my heart because I’m delighting in him.
