Hired Servant of God – bond slave to the Lord

18 “I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.”
· “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” . We are sons by way of creation though perhaps not in the redemptive sense.
[bondmen, bondwomen, bondmaids, bondservant]
“O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.” It is when God loosens the you from the bondage of sin and the devil that you will have a willingness to surrender your life to Him. For this reason did Christ, the suffering servant, come. “…to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound”
If we live our lives like this, like a bondservant to the Lord; like men totally given over to God, then heaven shall be like verses 20-24.
V24 reminds me of the angels rejoicing in heaven / “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
V28 reminds me of the people that will not come to Church (let alone to Christ) because the Church is full of hypocrites.
So, where are you this morning?
· Have you seen the depravity of you own sinful life?
· Are you in a place of repentance?
· Are you in a place of surrender?
