05_Spiritual Warfare in Praying for the Lost

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Our Weapons:

1. The Blood of Christ – plead the blood of Christ

a. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
b. “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”
c. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

2. The Name of Jesus ( – name above all names) Invoke the name of Jesus.

a. “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
i. Creation / “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
1. He created man and angels, both turned away from Him.
ii. Crucifixion / “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
iii. Coronation / “Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” Crown Him with many crowns!

3. The Word of God – Use the word of God.

a. “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
b. Without this sword how shall you cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God? You cannot. We must be armed!

4. Praise

a. “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” Let Him know that you love Him!
b. “WHEN they began to sing and to praise…” / “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah;”

5. Fasting

a. “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”
b. “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”
You now have an opportunity to get involved in someone’s salvation. You know the necessity of praying; the biblical basis for praying; you understand the personal factors involved in praying, brokenness, travail, persistence; and you know it is a spiritual war for the lost souls. The question is will you get involved in praying and do you have a strategy? We will look at the strategy tonight.
Perhaps you don’t know this Jesus that saves men’s souls.
