This is our why - CSISD
It’s not what you do, it’s why you do it.
Why do they teach...
In the church, we have a WHY as well.
Our why is love!
Everything we do is motivated by love.
Galatians 5:13–14 ESV
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
1st C Christians were so devoted to Christ, they were willing to die for their faith.
That love, expressed for Christ, and exhibited to others, was the cause for significant growth in the church.
I want you to leave today encouraged by love and to love.
Love God & Love others, thus fulfilling the law of Christ.
Turn in your Bible to 1 Corinthians 13

1 Corinthians 13

Context:
Paul has discussed spiritual gifts and their use in the body of Christ.
Transitions the discussion to what he calls a more excellent way… LOVE

Without love we are nothing and gain nothing.

Note how Paul describes our love for each other.
Love is… verse 4

Love is...

Slide: Verse 7

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Faith is an expression of love.
Hope is an expression of love.
Verse 13 points back to verse 7.
Love is the greatest b/c love never ends - Vs 8.
What is the point of all this?

Cultivate the practice of love.

Love for God
Love for one another.
Love for the lost.

This is our why!

Love is our reason because God loved us.
We love because He first loved us.
