Restricted Access

Story Two: A man from the Virden area that hit the pipe-line shed years back.
Transition - In the time before the Cross if you tried to enter the Holy of Holies when you were not authorized you would simply die!
How many of you would allow me 24 hour unlimited full access to your home? Do I have access?
How many of you can walk into the police station here in town and start going into all the rooms? Do you have access?
How many of you right now can enter the school across the street? Do you have access?
How many of you can walk into the Town Office and sit down with the mayor any time you wanted?
Chances are you either need to be invited by another person, make an appointment, or you are simply denied access to areas that are restricted for authorized personal only.
Some times you cant even get into location without a key or a pass code. even if you tried.

Story Three:

Explanation points
Before

Before the Cross - Restricted Access

Abraham (Friend of God and spoke with Him)
Abraham (Friend of God and spoke with Him)
Moses (Servant of God, spoke and visited God) ()
High Priest Only (was able to enter the Holy place to atone for the sin) (Exodus 29:42–43)
High Priest Only (was able to enter the Holy place to atone for the sin) (Exodus 29:42–43)
As you can see before the Cross access to the Father was restricted.
It was almost like God saying “Come to my front door, I meet you there. Then we can talk. “
People were unable to enter into the door. God spoke to them from the other side of the door.
Can you just imagine what that would be like if your best friend only ever talked to you from behind a door?
But because of sin in our lives we didn't have access to be with God, Sin separated us from walking with God.
David and Solomon longed for access to God but could not obtain it ( and )
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” ()
God is Holy and will not allow Sin in His sight (we cant gain access)
My beloved put his hand By the latch of the door, And my heart yearned for him. I arose to open for my beloved, And my hands dripped with myrrh, My fingers with liquid myrrh, On the handles of the lock.
I opened for my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and was gone. My heart leaped up when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer ()
These men, men after God’s heart had longed for the chance to access the Throne Room of God.
David and Solomon searched for God but could not obtain Him ( and )
Transition - Then everything changed, we had gone from Restricted Access to God to Limited Access to God through Christ Jesus.

When Christ walked the earth - Limited Access

When He was a babe (few people knew) (Shepards, mom, dad, wise men, and inn keepers)
When He was growing up (few people and priests knew Him) (Temple visitors and teachers of the law)
When He was becoming and adult working in the shop (Few people knew Him. Who could tell God in the flesh was fixing wooden furniture)
When He started His ministry it was located in Judea
You had to travel to a very small country to get to Him (one location at a time)
You had to trace Him to a village.
Find a crowd of people
If He left town you might have had to get a boat or walk fo hours or days to find Him in the wilderness.
When you did find Him you had to manage to get close to Him (everyone else did)
To see God you had to be at the RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME
You had to be at the right place at the right time to get close to the Father.
Story of the blind man () (Hears Jesus walking by and shouts out to Him)
The dead boy raised from the dead (only because the funeral procession was going by. )
The man at the pool of Bethesda, he was there at the right place at the right time.
The woman who was bleeding for 12 years had to push the crowed to just reach Christ.
Zaccheus had to climb a tree just to see Jesus walking by.
Transition - To gain access to the Father you really had to at the Right Place and Right Time when Christ walked the earth.

The Cross! - Unrestricted Access

Here is the heart of my message today found in Eph. 2:18

“For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” - Eph. 2:18

But then in one moment of awesome mercy and glory Jesus provided us with absolute and total unrestricted access to the Father God!!
The Scripture tells us that on the mount of Calvary stood a blood stained Cross. On the Cross was Christ Jesus.
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;”
(The Veil) It was at the moment of Christ’s death that the veil that separated the Holy of Holies was torn open and and we gained unrestricted access to God.
The cross did more than just rip a veil in a temple.
The cross did more than just rip a veil in a temple.
The physical tare was one that represented a huge spiritual importance, It ushered in a new privilege that Abraham, Moses, and David could not enjoy!
Just think.
Christ gave us the access key into the throne room of God at any time, night, day, weekend, weekday, sabbath, or holiday. No guards, no angles, no restrictions!
we become Christ like
We find refuge in the Lord, security that we long for...
we find true rest
we can quench the thirst of our soul with a river of the Holy Spirit.
The more time we spend standing before the LORD we will experience God as our defender, and understand more fully that deliverance comes from Him.
When we spend more time resting before the Lord we learn more about His:
power, love, justice, goodness, mercy and kindness
the longer we spend looking at the Lord with our hearts the more:
strength we gain to stand against the enemy
the more godly wisdom He gives us
the more empowerment He freely gives us to boldly and rightly say
Your KINGDOM COME
Your WILL BE DONE

Access Granted!

As wonderful as this is… we need to first address the magnitude of this kind of Access by asking the question:
“What is the greatest pain Christ's soul could ever experience?”
David Wilkerson asks and answers this question:
“I believe it's that a generation that has received full, unrestricted access does not come to him.”
Before Jesus, we (Gentiles) had no access to God the Father. Nothing we could have done would have gained us access back to God, we were truly lost!
Before Jesus, we (Gentiles) had no access to God the Father. Nothing we could have done would have gained us access back to God, we were truly lost!
For centuries, God’s chosen people had longed for access behind the veil.
Moses yearned for it.
David expresses in the psalms his desire to have this kind of access.
Daniel prayed 3 times a day to God our Father and yet did not have this kind of access.
Then 2000 years ago Christ saved us from sin and death and with it gave us unlimited and unrestricted access to God the Father.
Yet 2000 years ago Christ saved us from sin and death and with it gave us unlimited and unrestricted access to God the Father.
Christ saved us from sin and death and with it gave us unlimited and unrestricted access to God the Father.
We today have this wonderful gift!
He paid the
For a number of years it was the understading that a priest alone could enter into the throne room of God o
We today, right now can walk into the throne room of God the Father and go to Him for mercy
for grace
with our troubles
with our praises
with our requests for daily bread
for protection and deliverance from our enemies
for our marching orders
for the empowerment to bring His kingdom come! for His will to be done.
—-pause---
Ensure time with the Lord was highly important
Spending time reading the Word and mediating on it.
Praying for as long as was needed for the soul.
Today that same person confessed:
how little time is spent on the Word
How short prayer time is for a quick “bless you, bless me, guide me. Amen”
to the point prayer is abandoned.
Yet claim to be “resting on faith”
When we stop praying. We stop going into the throne room of the Almighty God. We start losing our faith and drift away from God.
However, so many of us today casually walk past the door to the throne room and take lightly the cost Christ paid for us to have this kind of access.
However, so many of us today casually walk past the door to the throne room and take lightly the cost Christ paid for us to have this kind of access.
The Throne Room
Let me take a moment to illustrate for you what this means:
Imagine for a moment the following conversation in the throne room of God.
The Father turns to the Son and says:
“Son, you were Beaten, bruised, betrayed, nailed to the cross. Mocked, spat at, and shamed, and buried. And yet you fulfilled the everlasting covenant. You made a Way for anyone who puts trust in You to come into the throne room with unrestricted access. Through this access the people of the last days have access to grace, mercy, empowerment for service, protection from the enemy by faith and will grow mighty in strength.”
But, where are our children? Monday comes and goes. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday passes by and no sign of our children. Yet Sunday comes and here they are. Why don’t they come to us all the time? Don’t they love Us?”
---Pause---
Jesus Christ saved us from sin and death. From seperation from the Father.
By His actions... we now have Access to the the Father by the Holy Spirit living in us.
I am going to close with this.
In the book of Revelation there is a church called Sardis.
This is what Christ said to them: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
The church Jesus was talking about was one who had done good works and deeds. By name they were alive but spiritually they were dead.
They grew cold in prayer.
They had ACCESS straight into the throne room of God through prayer but they neglected to seek out the Lord daily.
They failed to pray to Him for guidance, strength, faith, mercy, forgiveness and grace.
Jesus is urging the church to shape up. To get stired up again and get HUNGRY for GOD once more!
Who’s hungry for God!
Who’s hungry for mercy?
Who’s hungry for faith?
Who’s hungry For Justice?
Who’s hungry For Forgiveness?
Who’s hungry For Love?
Who’s hungry For Grace?
---Pause---
Then let us not become like Sardis. Alive only by name and dead in spirit.
Let us get HUNGRY for the Lord and with BOLDNESS enter into the Throne Room of GOD!
Christ gave us the keys lets get something to eat!
The only way we could and can today have access to God the Father is by the Holy Spirit and through the actions of Jesus Christ.
