Week 3. The benefits of relationships - We will focus on the inconvenience but necessity of relationships.
We live in a Netflix and chill kind of world!
Intro
The health of your relationships with others will only be as healthy as your relationship is with Jesus.
Practical:
You don’t connect with spouse cause you’re not happy with yourself...only as healthy as your relationship is with Jesus.
Not really an introvert but because of your shame you keep to yourself...only as healthy as your relationship is with Jesus.
Unhealthy perspective.

There is nothing more impt than my family.

Pt: You’ll never get what He offers if you never take Him at His word.
And so now, we try to feel better, do better have better and we’re limited because we really don’t love ourselves.

4 Common Types of Self-Talk
The Laboratory of Neuroimaging at the University of Southern California says that a person has about seventy thousand thoughts per day.
Catastrophizing—This is the mind’s “what if” game.
It snowballs the worst-case scenario of the future with worried thoughts: What if this happens?
What if that happens?
These thoughts amplify anxiety and depression.
Blaming—This is a mind trap in which some uncomfortable feeling is expelled by holding ourselves responsible for another’s pain or holding others responsible for our pain.
The problem here is that when you perceive the
issue as lying outside of you, you give your power away to effect change.
Rehashing—This is when our thoughts reflect on past circumstances, going over them again and again, often in an effort to figure something out.
Rehearsing—This is the mind practicing some future event, playing through, again and again, the possible ways it may unfold.
What is wisdom?
The bounty of life’s experiences.
“God teaches us wisdom through experience, either someone else’s experiences or our own.
It cost us a lot more to learn from our own.”
It’s more natural to default to what’s wrong vs. embrace what’s right.
When you are in community, the power of spoken words over you can silence the silent words in you.
My wife has become the queen of declarations in our home.
She’s always challenging us to speak the right stuff out of our mouth.
When you are in healthy relationships you people should be changing how you’re thinking.
