The Shield of Faith
Introduction: Last week looked at foundation of Christian Faith.
And the Foundation is Jesus
Every about Christianity is ever expanding circles around Jesus
- Everything we know: Jesus is the truth
- Everything we do: Jesus is the way
- Our very life, purpose and meaning: Jesus is life, we were created by Him, for Him and we will only know purpose, meaning, fulfillment, wholeness, and power through our proximity to Jesus
when you pray, pray so you may know Jesus
when you read your Bible read it to know Jesus
when you look at this world look for the Him in His creation
In joy, in sorrow, on the sunny day and in the darkest night of the soul look for Jesus
In Jesus we find everything we need to for Faith
We have faith in Jesus because we know He loves us
We have faith in Jesus because we know He has authority
We have faith in Jesus because we know He is merciful
And He does not change
The same Jesus that died on the cross for your sins is the same Jesus today
The same Jesus that rose from the dead is the same Jesus today.
In Jesus we have great confidence and a sure foundation for our faith
Because we have faith in Jesus we have faith in His Word
Because we trust the speatker, we have confidence in the word spoken
Christian Faith is Trusting God’s Word
We Trust: because of His power
God not only created all things, He sustains all things
Everything is because God has said it is so
Everything remains because God has willed it
We Trust: because He cares
Those words on those pages are for you
to proposer you, to water and feed your soul
God is speaking to you on a personal level
God’s will is good
God’s will is acceptable
God’s will is perfect
We Trust: because of His demonstration
What is the Shield For?
Satan's power is an Illusion
His power is the power of a lie
the devil steals be distraction: he pulls your attention away from what God wants for you
the devil kills by illusion: he gets you to walk into the trap
the devil tears down by a false narrative: he gets you to look at the world through a perverted sense of reality.
To interrupt the world with your eyes instead of your understanding
That is the reminder the passage, we wrestle not against flesh and blood!
The Shield of Faith is Our Refuge
It does not matter what anyone else says, what does God say?
The Shield of faith is how we push forward
Without faith the world and circumstance pushes you around
with faith you push the world
I have anchored in Jesus, I’ll fear no wind or wave
