Feed My Sheep
For me that became my purpose - nothing else makes me whole.
God has a Calling on All of Us
Fish for Men
The problem - when we try to define what that calling is.
It’s a moving target.
We are not the same person we were 1,3,5, 10, 20, etc years ago.
if we are in Christ we are a vessel that is constantly being changed and formed.
So while His goals for us never change (I know my plans for you…) our perception of that plan may due to our growth.
Our sinful nature may blind us.
Romans 12
However the Bible gives us some guidance and some common denominator goals that each of us have.
Today I would like to discuss what His goal for our life is.
Not in detail but in some over riding principals.
Key Text.
Eph 3:14-21
Back Ground
Eph basically broke into 2 parts
1.
The plan of salvation chapters 1-3
2. The practical application of how it looks
3.
So the passage was written to tell a few basic things.. Be saved, Act saved.
This passage comes on the heals of Paul describing his calling.
Eph 3:
Before we say we are not apostle let me tell you that you are indeed called
3.
This passage is prayer - it is important that we take note of prayers given.
They reflect the heart in a way that simple instruction cannot.
Verse by verse
14.
Prayer to father - I don’t know about you but often times when I pray I am expressing my deepest desires to the Lord.
When God takes note of a prayer of a saint and puts it in His word we should take note that is is being set up as an example of where our passion needs to be driving our thoughts and actions.
15. we know that He is the Father of all.
from your favorite person to your worst enemy - not up to us to judge.
16 -17a
according to his riches and glory.
- not ours
Strengthened with power
Comes from the Holy spirit - IN YOUR INNERMOST BEING
Goal is the Christ dwells in our hearts through faith.
heart = passion - deep down inside
17b - 18
May have power
rooted in love
birthed from unity
when we are united in love and unity we start to see
“how wide, and long, and high, and deep is the love of Christ”
Foot ball team fans but the finger paint the body
Passion is unfounded - they are losers
With God our passion is founded on the fact that His love surpasses all and is in all and is unshakable.
If we can grasp that it will guide our actions.
We become crazy for Christ.
19 - 2 things
love surpasses knowledge.
you need to be filled
To God be the Glory
v 20 -21
whatever we dream up - he can do much more
SO DREAM THE DREAM
ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM HEAVEN
PURPOSE
GLORIFY THE CHURCH
GLORIFY CHRIST
FOREVER
What does he want from me?
He want us to know that wherever we are His love is there.
He wants us to know that we are to work together and be filled with the Spirit.
He wants us to share this love and unity to glorify Him and His church
