1) Is there someone that you would like to be like?
2) What makes you want to be like them?
3) Who did Jesus want to be like?
We – all have idols that we look to people that we inspire to be like…I want to be Batman! No really I have other pastor I look at and think…P. Phillip.
T.S. - How can we be more like Jesus today…?
Bible -
Matthew 3:13–17 NLT
Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?” But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
You – ask Jesus into your life and then the next thing you do is get baptised in water, but why? Jesus said this is how we show the world that we are following God.
Magic in the water, NO
Does it make me better, NO
Does it change me, NO
Then What?
Shows my family and church that I want to follow Jesus
I am saying God I have put my bad ways behind me and I give you my life, to lead
From this day forward I want to live my life for you
We – are all to follow Jesus’s example and one of the first things he does is get baptised. If you have ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life and would like to be water baptized…form
