Recap
The Freedom We Have - Being Free From Sin & Shame
True freedom is not being able to do whatever we want, it’s actually being free from Sin and Shame
Example of the YOKE with Jadon and Gabe
Crumby Faith - Taking a Burden of Someone Else to Help Them Receive Their Breakthrough
Intercession - sometimes we need help to get our breakthrough, if our faith is lacking, we can call on our friends to take up the burden with us and intercede for our break through.
We saw a mother that pleaded for the leftovers of the Jewish blessing, and he request was granted
Stones & Temples - The Presence of God is Accessible By Everyone; We Are Actually The Temple of The Holy Spirit
Peter brought to our attention that our bodies are more than just instagram models.
We are royalty, a holy nation, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
God’s Spirit was something that used to be accessed by one person one day a year, and if there was any misstep, that person was dead
Are we keeping our temples clean?
Can God’s Spirit dwell inside of us?
Breaking Babylon - Selfish Greed Makes You A Slave
Babylon represented man’s way of trying to gain materials to become god-like
The Spirit of Mammon - the god of riches
Money is neutral; you can use it for good or bad
You break greed off your life by being a generous giver

Tonight we are talking about, LOSING CONTROL <slide on screen>
In or Out of Control?
Trashcan Game: were you in control or out of control?
Baal
DEFINE: The Hebrew noun ba‘al means ‘master’, ‘possessor’ or ‘husband’
Control, Rule, Power
So much through our culture, it has taught us that it is normal and okay to be in control
We hear phrases like, “it’s your life, do what you want”
SUGGESTION: we don’t know how to manage our lives, and left to our own we will run ourselves tired and dry.
Baal in the Bible:
Throughout the OT; specifically when Elijah goes head-to-head with the prophets of Baal and calls fire down from Heaven
Examples of Baal in Our Lives:
Busy Schedules - it’s our life so we’ll do what we want
Trying to control others: Siblings, Co-Workers, Other Drivers
Siblings, Co-Workers, Other Drivers
We buy, build, make things to make us better than others
Losing Control to Gain Control
If Breaking Babylon = Generous Giving
Breaking Baal = Honoring the Sabbath
Extremely Tired: when you are overly tired, you can’t think straight, you might say things you regret, you may do things you regret
This is the extreme case.
Most of the time we are tired and make poor decisions, but don’t immediately tie it to how much rest we have had that week.
The Sabbath
Sabbath in the OT
The other six days God called good, but only the seventh did He call Holy.
God took a rest on the seventh day and the Bible tells us a few verses earlier that He made us in His image.
This means we have qualities of God! (we are not God, but we have His qualities.
Just how you have qualities of you parents but you aren’t your parents)
If the God of the universe thought it was good to take a rest after six days, don’t you think it is a good idea?
Taking it a step further, God designed our bodies to take a Sabbath
The Sabbath is a Gift
God is giving us a day to refresh, replenish our soul, find rest in Him, and HE BLESSES IT!
Sabbath in the NT
Jesus talking to the religious people of the day...
The religious people had essentially turned the Sabbath into and idol, but that was never the intention of the Sabbath.
Sabbath = verb; you don’t take a sabbath, you sabbath - you stop and rest

Hebrews
no one = the world
Christians should look and feel more rested than the people of the world - this is not the common case in the world we live in
No Rest in Hell:
Tithe of the Week:
Tithe of the Week:
168 hours in the week
1/10 of that would be 16.8 hours
16.8 hours is about the time that we are awake during the day
