Jesus closes by saying, “you cannot serve God and wealth.”
the context here is found in verse 21.
Notice treasure..
Treasure means, a quantity of precious metals, gems, or other valuable objects.
so, treasure is that that you have deemed valuable.
thats why the next verse says “the eye.”
you have placed value on, what you focus on.
we know thats true because if it is worth nothing, it not worth giving attention too.

folks often say “the eye is the window to the souls.
the bible actually says,
“The eye is the lamp of the body.”
one translation for the word eye is “gaze.”
i often times say, you lead by your gazes.

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
so, what you focus on effects you heart.
Heart here is the word kardia, which speaks of ones interior and ones feelings or emotion.

Often times addition start because someone offered us sometime.
We saw it might feel good.
We thought it might make us look good and we rebelled again God authorities in our lives.
Then we see a cycle beginning.

Notice the victim becomes the victimizer.
Spreading his addiction.
Spreading his hatred.
The abused becomes the abuser.
Hurting people hurt people and when there is whole in ones heart often we go out of our way to fix them and along the way we hurt other
I was controlled so now feeling in control feel the whole of being controlled and now my life is out of control.
This is the battle!
the Devil is crafty and doesn't want you eyes to be clear.
He want to pollute your heart.
so that, If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
watch jesus next words,
you can not serve two master..
make a choice… be separate… be different
in essence live for another age..
don’t allow the things of the world to pollute your soul....
