Many of the Psalms were written by David including the one we will read today - 40
We’ll read the entire Psalm, but I want to start in verse 11.

Troubles and sin are overwhelming to David.
A prayer…a plead to God for help.
Recognition of hie state of being - poor and needy vs 17
Recognition of who alone could help him vs 17
Read Psalm 40:1-3
Remembers a previous time he was in a slimy pit, in mud and mire and he waited patiently.
What is your pit, mud and mire? could be one of 4 things

This is before his plea in 11-17…must be a previous struggle that the Lord took care of him, yet he struggles again.
God did 6 things:
Turned to him/saw him
Heard his cry
lifted him out
set feet on a rock
Gave firm place to stand
Gave him a new song of praise
Result: many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him!
