Sometimes God shows up in power and answers our prayers and strengthens our faith
We see great things happen and we rejoice
Other times we are in chaos and often left feeling shattered with unrelenting darkness leaving us tired and exhausted and feeling as if God is silent
I have been there this week - Calling out Hello and hearing nothing
Feeling alone in this and God placed some others in my life this week that were wondering the same - why is God being silent.
I know that as a pastor I feel I need the answer to this and yet I didnt have one
There are those in our world who tell us that the reason that God seems silent is because he is simply not there or not real

We are not alone though because as we look at scripture

I decided to google about God in the silence because surely there are many people who have experienced God’s silence
One article challenged us to step back and take time to realize that existence is still here and it screams God
When we look around and see all creation we see God at work
Crystal watches a movie I have not been able to really get in to Sound of Music - but she sings “nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could”
Hebrews 13:
The very breathe in our lungs are from him, our feet to walk our tongue to talk and some have more than others (haha)
Just because we don’t feel or see something doesn't mean that it is not there
Often how we perceive things are not always as they are
And often we hold on to what we perceive or interpret
When it comes to faith, faith requires us to move away from what we interpret and hold on to the promises

God’s promise to Joshua and his promise to us is that her will not abandon us which is confirmation that he is with us even when he is silent.
We feel he is not there scripture tell us he will not leave us
Questions I found that made me think
Why does absence make the heart grow fonder
Why is water so much more refreshing when we are really thirsty
Why are we seldom satisfied with what we have, we long for more or different
Why do people who seem to suffer seem more joyful than those who have it all (reliance on God?)
Deprivation draws out desire
Matthew 5:
In mourning we know Joy
Longing makes us ask and persistent
So you sill feel stuck in the dessert
God Speaks through his word and through others
The desert awakens our need for him and draws us to the well - where Jesus gives us living water
When we turn to the word of God we see that it is the greatest love story and so when we feel that he is silent if we stand back look at creation and open the scriptures to know he is with us and that he is in control - sovereign over us we learn that whenever someone trusted him in the silence he was faithful in his time and in his way to show up
Don’t pretend like he is not silent out of shame - tell someone
