The two great words of the church:
Amen
Hallelujah… praise the Lord… it’s a word whose time has to come in history… in the church… and in your life...
Hallelujah is a word of vindication… … it is a word of consummation.
In the Bible, it is striking the places Hallelujah is absent.
Story of Job
job 15:
No word of Hallelujah...
Story of the Exile
No word of Hallelujah...
Jesus and his promises thru passion...
Even after the resurrection, still no hallelujah.
No hallelujah through the early church.
The gospel writers don’t record the cry in the gospels…
Luke doesn’t mention it in Acts…
Paul and Peter don’t record the word in any of their letters.
Thru all of the Bible’s story and the history of the Judeo Christian, the time for the cry of Hallelujah isn’t recorded until all things are made newer than new… until all things are put to rights.
2 Corin 5:17 new… and new...
The word Hallelujah shows up in the Bible… 4 times.
Only 4. And I’m going to read all 4 of them to you now.
Marriage… the order of things… the wedding is the validation… the wedding night is the consummation.
Faith in Jesus makes you a part of the bride of Christ, the Church.
Babylon… “the great prostitute” ()
The masses partook of the profits and pleasures of the Babylonian Brothel… while the saints and prophets resisted and were martyred.
God — finally, FINALLY — judges the Madame Babylon… and VINDICATES the saints and prophets.
And then, the Lord Jesus comes… in his white linen best to find his Bride in her white linen best… and the table is set… and the feast is ready to be had… and when the wedding and feast are concluded, then comes the time of CONSUMMATION.
And it is into this context of VINDICATION and CONSUMMATION that the word Halellujah.
