WHAT IS SIN?

Sin is transgression or the breaking of God’s law, by thought (), feeling (), action () or speech ().

Sin is transgression or the breaking of God’s law, by thought (), feeling (), action () or speech ().

We transgress God’s law through...
Commission or doing what God forbids.
Omission or NOT doing what He requires ().

Sin is rebellion or a breaking away from God’s authority ().

Rebellion denies God the right to impose limits and govern our behavior. Instead, sin tries to seize this authority for itself ().

Sin is unrighteousness or the absence of righteousness ().

Man’s unrighteousness causes him to come short and miss the mark of God’s divine standard ().

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF SIN?

Sin corrupts ().

Sin corrupts and defiles everything it touches until nothing works the way it is intended. For example, sin makes men arrogant to the point they think more highly of themselves () and it makes men selfish to the point where they think only of themselves (, ).
This corrupting influence of sin is what we call iniquity. Iniquity means to bend or pervert. Sin will pervert our nature (turning us towards what is unnatural), it will perverts the truth (turning it into error) and it will perverts our intent (turning our unrighteousness into willful disobedience).

Sin separates (; ).

Sin enslaves making you do what you don’t want to do (, ; ).

Sin destroys making everthing useless (; ).

The man who sins gets nothing from it but death.
