The Power of the King

: “The King of Glory”
Intro:
Outline:
The Power of the King
The Blessing of the King
The Jealousy of the King
The Way to the King
The Power of the King
Earth is His, fullness thereof
The All-Creating, All-Owning One
Power of the atom
Potential of today’s technology was in the Earth as soon as he made it
All designed and brought into being with a word
“fullness” -- the Earth isn’t for man’s exploitation, but for God’s satisfaction and glory (Kidner)
The Blessing of the King
Blessing = “fullness” -- ;
The Jealousy of the King
Clean hands
Pure heart
Righteousness
“whatever is functioning as it should; in court, the man in the right; in character, the honest man; in the run of affairs, success. Probably all three are present in this context. The man has the smile of God upon him: he is accepted, he is helped to live an upright life, his affairs under God’s blessing will run as they should.” --Kidner
“God must make new men of us, whose ways will be his own” --Kidner
Not lift up soul to false
Not swear deceitfully
Isaiah is crushed -- he can’t stand
The Way to the King
The power of Jesus
Calming storm
1000 or so years later, out on the sea of Galilee, there was a terrible storm.
Who is this?
Dispelling the Legion
Capturers couldn’t stand
Every molecule in his accusers’ bodies was made by Jesus, actually held together by him
The blessing of Jesus
The crucifixion of Jesus
He was lifted up!
He was unmade!
He was crushed beneath the storm!
Prayer: God, you are mighty and powerful, and I can’t stand in the face of it.
Action steps:
Seek him. Don’t pretend you know Him. We will only know Him fully when we see His face. Seek this mighty king, this present God. Does a child fully know her father? No -- there is so much to him she doesn’t know. And infinitely moreso is the degree to which you don’t know God. So seek Him! He is there to be known because of the way that Jesus has made.
Selah. “Think on this for a little while. This will bless your heart, my beloved.” --Vernon McGee
