Introduction: Many times we are tempted to approach the Word of God in the same way we approach a Moo-gra-ta Buffet, we take what we want and we leave the stuff we don’t really like. If we are eating with friends, we will eat what they eat so we don’t offend them, and when we come to church we polite and act like we love the preaching of the Word of God.

BUT, do we? Do we accept the Word of God as THE authority in our lives, or is it like a buffet to us - some parts we like and some parts we leave?

Today, I want us to see how at the beginning of the ministry of Christ, He was determined to do what was RIGHT even when it was not convenient to do so.

12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Why was the sinless Son of God baptized? We suggest six reasons:

5. Anticipation - This water baptism looked forward to His baptism of suffering for us on the cross (). Jesus fulfilled all righteousness through His sacrificial death on Calvary.

Many times we are confused by what it means to preach the Word!

Preach the Word simply means to proclaim and teach the Word of God in context so that everyone can understand.

In doing so, we will find different places in the Bible where it appears that the Preaching has a different goal - CORRECT!

Here, John has 2 main goals for his preaching...
