The Light Grows
Many times we don’t realize the life that Christ and His “family” really had as a young man. The main theme of this message is the natural growth that Jesus experienced in several areas of life and how He is our example. Much of what we hear today in society is geared towards equality, which is not a Biblical teaching i.e. I have a certain authority here as I fulfill the duty of a pastor, but God loves us all the same.
So, today I want us to see the situation of Jesus’ family and then see the 3 areas that we are to follow Christ and be growing in.

Honestly, until this study, I never really thought a lot about Joseph.
I never really considered the cost to his reputation, the loss of his home (Nazareth), the fear of death in Bethlehem, the uncertainty of life in Egypt, the fear of returning, and the shame of going back to the place where everyone thinks you have been immoral!
He didn’t choose any of it! BUT, he did submit to God’s Word!
*You may be innocent but be accused of committing sin - Keep doing right!
*You may be guilty and living with the feeling of guilt feels unbearable - Confess, Repent (reckon it as sin), Turn to God and His ways.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

To many people are confused about who to follow and who to listen to.

Remember this: All authority in our lives comes from God and is to be subject to HIS authority!
NOTE: He was not being asked to sin here.
Jesus gently reminded them of Who His real Father was, but He also obeyed Joseph & Mary as He was commanded to do from the Scriptures. Vs. 51

Knowledge, understanding and the application of it equals wisdom
– His understanding was astonishing for His age

WISDOM, n. s as z. [G. See Wise.]
1. The right use or exercise of knowledge; the choice of laudable ends, and of the best means to accomplish them. This is wisdom in act, effect, or practice. If wisdom is to be considered as a faculty of the mind, it is the faculty of discerning or judging what is most just, proper and useful, and if it is to be considered as an acquirement, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness. Wisdom in the first sense, or practical wisdom, is nearly synonymous with discretion. It differs somewhat from prudence, in this respect; ความรอบคอบ/prudence is the exercise of sound judgment in avoiding evils; wisdom is the exercise of sound judgment either in avoiding evils or attempting good. Prudence then is a species, of which wisdom is the genus.
“Wisdom gained by experience, is of inestimable value.”
2. In Scripture, human learning; erudition; knowledge of arts and sciences.
Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. .
3. Quickness of intellect; readiness of apprehension; dexterity in execution; as the wisdom of Bezaleel and Aholiab. .
4. Natural instinct and sagacity. .
5. In Scripture theology, wisdom is true religion; godliness; piety; the knowledge and fear of God, and sincere and uniform obedience to his commands. This is the wisdom which is from above. . .
The wisdom of this world, mere human erudition; or the carnal policy of men, their craft and artifices in promoting their temporal interests; called also fleshly wisdom. . .

This the primary here and relates to ability to function and contribute to the wellbeing of the home, community, society and church.
Home duties - Husband, Wife, Father, Mother, Child, Brother/Sister, etc.
Helpful when there are needs in the community
Society – This has to do with the ability to THINK about things. Philosophies will have fruit
We need to teach children to be useful/helpful to others, not just selfish!
